Kregerdoodle Posted February 1, 2013 #1 Posted February 1, 2013 Just about complete with the doors and out side of my shop, installed a French Drain and a twin Barrel Wood stove ( B-Day Gift from my Bride ) ( for our 2 weeks of winter) and an awning out back to help block the water from the rain, Still have a little bit to complete, then its re-lay out the inside and add a few more lights, and clean it out! Pics to follow, hope to take a few pics this weekend. Also, installed a Battery Tender Jr. ( Many Thanks to Hal & Val ) it only took it about 10 minutes to have her fully charged, and I havn`t started it in about 5 days.. Hope it gets really cold this weekend so I can get a Huge rip roaring fire going and just kick back and enjoy...

Miles Posted February 1, 2013 #6 Posted February 1, 2013 Kregerdoodle, a question. When you do the work finishing the inside of the shop, are you going to be finishing the interior walls? Using sheetrock, or using pegboard? Are you going to be using an air compressor inside the shop? My reason for questions are: I have found that by finishing the interior walls with white pegboard, rather than sheetrock, the pegboard is half the cost of sheetrock, it is half the weight of sheetrock, it is far easier to install, you can see through the pegboard holes to find your wall studs to install the screw through the pegboard to the wall stud. You do not have to paint it after install, as it is already white, you can hang pegboard hooks anywhere you want to, and the pegboard holes absorb the noise of the air compressor, so you shop doesn't become a a reverberating noise chamber when the compressor is running. Look into it. I have set up my own personal shops at many homes, and I always use the white pegboard (Home Depot, Lowes) to finish the interior walls. No taping, no painting, it is a one person job...don't need to buy 12 cases of beer to pay off your friendsd to help you install the drywall.
BradT Posted February 2, 2013 #7 Posted February 2, 2013 white pegboard What a review for pegboard. You mention a few points that make perfect sense. My last garage had particle board and it needed some paint just never did it. THis garage is drywalled and looks Okay, proobably need paint in the future. Brad
bikerjohn Posted February 2, 2013 #8 Posted February 2, 2013 Hey Kreg, can't wait to see it when it is finished.
playboy Posted February 2, 2013 #9 Posted February 2, 2013 Perfect Escape Grounds Bugs Other Arachnophobia Reptiles Dirtdobbers and you would need a truck load of pygmies to get them cleaned out.

Kregerdoodle Posted February 3, 2013 Author #12 Posted February 3, 2013 Miles, As of now, I am not putting any thing on all of the walls, I have one wall that is 3/4in Plywood, and have benches and crap around on the others, The peg board sounds like a good Idea for above the benches, may have to think that over, but it would give the YellowJackets a good nesting place.. thanks for the pointers, It started out as a 3 sided 48x24 carport, I just closed in the front with sliding doors, installed a French Drain and added a wood burning stove for our extra long and ever so cold winters... I`ll post pics in a few. Kregerdoodle, a question. When you do the work finishing the inside of the shop, are you going to be finishing the interior walls? Using sheetrock, or using pegboard?
