kkent66 Posted January 31, 2013 #1 Posted January 31, 2013 Has anyone every added a power amp to their soundsytem? I have a 2006 RSV 52,541 miles. I removed the tape deck a few years ago and upgraded to polk 401 speakers. I mainly listen to my iphone while on the road.
djh3 Posted January 31, 2013 #2 Posted January 31, 2013 I think if I was going to remove the cassette deck and wanted to add an AMP I would loo at going in this direction. This small amp or one like it could be installed in the opening and would give you the amp and an MP3 player. I had one simular to this on my Kawasaki and it worked good. They make them in lots of sizes so finding one to fit the bill shouldnt be to hard.
Cougar Posted January 31, 2013 #3 Posted January 31, 2013 Yup , removed it after 5 years. not worth the hassle. and any kind of wasted draw it takes. Good luck on what you put in.
TheKid Posted January 31, 2013 #4 Posted January 31, 2013 If I had the extra money just sitting around I had thought about installing this complete audio kit (MC-YAM-AK4 - Yamaha Venture 99-07 4 Channel Motorcycle Audio Kit $549.99) from Bazooka. Also could install a 6" bass tube in the truck for an additional ($199.99 + $39.99 install wires). Then maybe our sounds could be as good as some of those customs LOL for a mere $789+shipping LOL.
djh3 Posted February 1, 2013 #5 Posted February 1, 2013 I dont really want to add anything in trunk if I can stay away from it. I like the room in it, otherwise why have it. Just my thinkin out loud.
spear Posted February 1, 2013 #6 Posted February 1, 2013 Gee, I dunno guys. I'm happy with my sound system the way it is. I suppose the question is if you wanna add power amps etc, "do you wanna listen to the music or share it with everybody within 100 miles radius?"
kkent66 Posted February 4, 2013 Author #7 Posted February 4, 2013 Looked at the bazooka amp only for $259 then found this link. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=365356#post365356
Eddie Posted February 5, 2013 #8 Posted February 5, 2013 i spent a whole weekend one time putting in an amp and re-wired the whole system , it helped a little with the extra 250 watts but it wasnt worth it. I think I still have the stuff I spent a couple hundered on if someone wants to make an offer. I believe Don also tried it. The bottom line is the speakers are to small .
djh3 Posted February 5, 2013 #9 Posted February 5, 2013 The speakers being small was something I kind of thought to myself. But I have heard some killer smaller speakers in the last few years. Tech is some great stuff. But I dislike the moroons that come in the gas station with radio blasting, put $4 worth of gas in and then go into the store with their radio still playing for your entertainment. Boom Boom blah blah rattle rattle boom. $2000 car with 6K in stereo.
kkent66 Posted February 10, 2013 Author #10 Posted February 10, 2013 I appreciated all the inputs - based on all the comments I believe it is my best interest to leave as is!! Thanks for all the help!
