Flyinfool Posted January 30, 2013 #2 Posted January 30, 2013 I have this one. I have not flipped over the trailer or dumped the the bike to try it out, but so far it has been no issue.
KeithR Posted January 30, 2013 #3 Posted January 30, 2013 If you use the Depli Forums - Trailer Towing. you will get lots of opinions. From what I have read over the years most feel they arn't required? Guess it can't do any harm. Keith

bongobobny Posted January 30, 2013 #5 Posted January 30, 2013 I dropped the bike and twisted the living he11 out of my hitch, so immediately I installed one on my trailer...
Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 30, 2013 #6 Posted January 30, 2013 Guess it can't do any harm. There are stories of trailers that have flipped from hitting a pothole or object in the road, like a curb, or block of wood. The trailer is free to flip over and then drag on its top as the rider tries to get it slowed down. Swivel hitches protect the bike, the hitch, and the frame from a low or zero speed drop, but sacrifice high speed stability. Its entirely the choice of the rider, of course, so choose wisely. I prefer a standard type.
Condor Posted January 31, 2013 #7 Posted January 31, 2013 I opted to put a tilt ball on the bike, however I'm not sure if they still make them?? That way any trailer will work.... True it won't flip over, but it will handle bouncing over a curb in a tight turn... don't ask...
dacheedah Posted January 31, 2013 #8 Posted January 31, 2013 Yes they still make them, I run with one and it seems to work well. . .
jdross440 Posted January 31, 2013 #9 Posted January 31, 2013 Where can you purchase one of these balls?
Condor Posted January 31, 2013 #10 Posted January 31, 2013 Where can you purchase one of these balls? I got mine off eBay, but I haven't seen any listed lately. That's why I wondered if they were still available. I also ran acrossed a website that had them, but can't remember which one... Old age ya know.... OK, here ya go. There may be others. http://motorcycletrailershop.com/osc/product_info.php?products_id=143

BOO Posted January 31, 2013 #12 Posted January 31, 2013 I dropped the bike and twisted the living he11 out of my hitch, so immediately I installed one on my trailer... That must have been a trick, dropping your bike!!!! BOO
