dbikers Posted January 27, 2013 #1 Posted January 27, 2013 This is possibly one of the sweetest/cleanest "custom" RS's i have ever seen... Hey, Bigjohn6886 (or anyone else who can answer), i have a few questions. What type of hiway bars are these and where did you get them? http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/myV-4010.jpg What type of fender pad is this and where did you get it? (have looked on fleabay and haven't seen anything like this) http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/Zapshouse007.jpg thanks in advance...and sweeeeet ride!
StarFan Posted January 27, 2013 #2 Posted January 27, 2013 That sure is a purdy bike to say the least ! The Highway Bars are original Yamaha Engine Guards and I think that all Royal Stars 1996 to 2001 had them from the factory - . There are also bigger bars available for the Royal Stars like the ones I have installed on my bike (see attachement). Think I got them from Barons. More pictures in my photogallery StarFan. Don´t know about the fender pad - maybe custom made ?
dbikers Posted January 27, 2013 Author #3 Posted January 27, 2013 thanks Starfan...nice lookin' rs's my '96 rs boulevard didn't come with any type of bars...but i need to get some so that i can stretch out when i am out to put some mileage on 'er. am still hoping Bigjohn will reply...that fender pad is bad-a$$
jfoster Posted January 27, 2013 #4 Posted January 27, 2013 They function so much better without the lower fairing. I wished the '06 RSTD I had didn't have them. After I got the Roadking, I realized how bad the lower fairing disrupted the air flow and the buffeting they created.
StarFan Posted January 27, 2013 #5 Posted January 27, 2013 If you want to have bars with added footrests then I would advice you to get the bigger bars from Baron. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/747/index.html They are quite pricie - $215 - but in my eyes well worth it. Protects the bike when tipping over and gives you adjustabilty for position of the footrests. They sometimes show up on eBay. Regarding the rear pad for the rear fender then here are some sources: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/mustang-seats-fender-bib-studded-royal-star/part/M-78071 http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ86759 Now, if you want to do something original then you should contact Nanci at "Ace High Leather" www.acehighleathers.com She could make a custom one for you and you can pretty much design it yourself. Have a look at her website to see her work. That lady is just amazing. She is doing some seat custom work for me at the moment as well as some other things and I am just thrilled. An exceptionally nice person to deal with.
StarFan Posted January 27, 2013 #6 Posted January 27, 2013 Not sure BigJohn is going to answer you. He has an expired membership and has not been logged on since 2010. Looks like the Rear Fender Bib is identical to the Mustang one you can see in one of the links I sent you. Hope this helps. Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas / StarFan

Condor Posted January 27, 2013 #8 Posted January 27, 2013 That's awesome StarFan....thanks so much. i didn't know that it was called a fender "bib" that is exactly what i'm looking for. Do a search on Ebay for I found 3 of them in various styles...and prices... :-)
dbikers Posted January 27, 2013 Author #9 Posted January 27, 2013 checked it out on ebay and found that cruiser customizing was just the ticket at $29.99 http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/plainbib.jpg Thanks

Rick Haywood Posted January 29, 2013 #11 Posted January 29, 2013 That is purdy. There was a gentleman at Scooter Bob and Karen's Maintenance Day in 2011 that had the red and black one all lowered and solo seat and it was absolutely gorgeous. For the life of me I can not remember his name but it might be Jeff since there were like 6 Jeff's there.
pofarm Posted January 30, 2013 #12 Posted January 30, 2013 @ dbikers...You don't have engine guards on your bike at all? The highway pegs in the picture you posted are aftermarket that clamp onto the OEM engine guards. If your guards are missing, I have a pair I would sell. I put a set of Lindby engine guards on mine. The first picture is of the OEM guard. The second shows the Lindby on my bike.

The OEM bars will work but you will have very limited adjustability since they are so small and low. The Barons or the Lindby´s will give you so much more.
pofarm Posted February 1, 2013 #16 Posted February 1, 2013 Here is some info on the pegs needed to use on the OEM guards. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60830 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57747
dbikers Posted February 1, 2013 Author #17 Posted February 1, 2013 wow...so it does look like there are some options with the oem bars.... thanks for the links pofarm...i will check these things out (and other google searches)... thanks again
