Took a trip up to Coldwater Michigan this morning to pick up a brand spanky new 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour at Planet Motorsports. I was just tagging along for moral support I guess. 600 mile round trip and I still was home by 4pm. I tell you what this bike is a beauty, Pearl White just pops in the sun. He bought some extra safety chrome, and they covered $500 of accessories. Not to shabby. Sales guy was tryn hard to sell me and if my $ situation was a little different I might have posted a pic of a nice Pearl Blue one.

Beautiful bikes. There is a victory dealership in Daytona. During biketoberfest I sat on one, and was impressed. Comfortable, low to the ground, meaning not top heavy. I am a shorter guy and felt good sitting on it. All the bells and whistles. A sharp, modern bike that whispers " take me home with you".

It was whispering, kissing on my neck, telling me I'm special, and fittin like a glove. The wife just doesn't understand. You need to ride it, very nimble. I really want to see yamaha update the Venture but if not in the next year or so I'll be on a CCT wife in agreement or not. It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission! Right?:whistling:

Yeah, I had that same experience about a year ago, but I just couldn't give in to it at the time either. It is a sweet ride,,,,,, maybe in a couple years,,,,,,.

I was checking one out at the show in Toronto. The sales guy said they have made some improvements to the clunky transmission. I'd have to ride one again to verify that before I would buy. The only other thing I didn't like was that there is no factory communication system or CB, but that can be rectified easy enough, $$$.

Wade,

So what was sticker $$$ and what was purchase $$?

And, will he ride it or garage it till spring? Was there a reason he bought in January, up north?

(Oh, funny, clicking on your "city" puts you in upper PA, not OH. But same question.)

I rode a 2012 last summer. There's a bit of a clunk from 1st to 2nd but after that, it was no different than my Wing or my RSV. The thing with these Victorys is you have to run them at a higher rpm to realize their power. Not like a Harley which has great low end torque. The Vic will seem like it's lugging if you crank it under about 2500 rpm in the upper gears (3rd up). When I first rode the Vic CCT back in 2009, I didn't like it because it seemed to "vibrate" a lot but the reason was, and I didn't know this at the time, is that I was cranking the throttle when the rpms were too low. When I rode the 2012, the salesman told me about that and so I kept the rpm above 2500 and was very impressed with the power it has. As for comfort, it fit me very well. The handling is supurb and I found it very nimble and easy to handle at low speeds. Running at 130 km/h in 6th gear was very smooth.

If I had the bucks I would be riding one for sure.

I'm not sure of the sticker price as it was a 2012 but I know he was hung up on getting White and it was only offered that year. He bought it off of EBay. He had tried to make a deal with them directly but he couldn't get his price. He was under $20k no prep no destination charges were added to that and still got the $500 accessories. As to why January? He rides all year and has sold his 2 other bikes, so he's got a bad itch especially since we've had a lot of decent weather this year.
