Flyinfool Posted January 24, 2013 #2 Posted January 24, 2013 It is a neat process. It is actually a real silver metal film that is applied to the part. Silver is not quite the same color as chrome so the clear coat that is applied has a slight blue tint to get it to look the same as chrome. It also is not inexpensive. The price of silver is up there. It would help if you could reclaim the silver that ends up in the bottom of that spray booth. I don't see it as something that the average person would get in their garage, more as something that a shop that does restorations or body work might get to offer as a service.
djh3 Posted January 24, 2013 #3 Posted January 24, 2013 There is a place over on the Gulf Coast here in Fla that does some pretty neat stuff like that in addition they can do all kinds of graphics. But it aint cheap neither.
Cougar Posted January 24, 2013 #4 Posted January 24, 2013 I thought that place that sells that stuff is no longer in biz.
Flyinfool Posted January 24, 2013 #5 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) Their website is still there at http://www.sprayonchrome.com/index2.html. It sure looks like they are still in business, they list a 2012 DVD. Edited January 24, 2013 by Flyinfool
djh3 Posted January 25, 2013 #6 Posted January 25, 2013 Check out the stuff this place does. Only took me an hour to find them again. It looks cool as heck but not cheap.

Yeah these guys are always at some of the local smaller and moderate shows. I have spoken with them a few times. Very friendly and easy to chat with. They have select patterns and colors ( last I spoke with them). They say its about the same cost to paint a bike. I inquired about my Vulcan last year ( 1500 cc) and was quoted around $1300.00. What I noticed last time is that they now mask off parts of the bike at owners request to not have the pattern on entire bike, as shown in that green bike on home page.
showmebob Posted February 20, 2013 #8 Posted February 20, 2013 There is a place in Calif. that has all this, Alsa paints
