Have you ever heard of this before? Have all my cars and truck insured thru them and am thinking of dropping them and getting some one else for my other vehicles ! Before I told them I was a MSF Instructor they quoted me a price of $704 a year.

up here I'm paying $1600.00 a year and we only get 5 months to ride if we're lucky.:fingers-crossed-emo

That's crazy! But on the flip side I pay $6100 a year for health insurance for a family.

Thats OK, ask GSC what his tags run per year. I couldnt belive what a friend of mine that lives over by Montreal told me it cost him.

As far as the rates because your a MSF instructor, I would call and find out why. Talk to a supervisor or something. Thats like saying you wont provide coverage to a police officer or race car driver. :confused24:

TEW47,

I've had American Modern for several years and gotten good service out of them. I hit a deer a couple of years ago and they took real good care of me. BTW, I'm paying a little more than you and can't complain. IMHO, good people to do business with.

Just got my renewal and it went up ~$16 from last year. If I pay in full for the year it is $195.28 for full coverage & towing (installments equal $216.58 for the year). Guess I can't complain.

l had Geico insurance for my bike's since about 1984. Never had a claim.

A couple of years ago I was presented with a speeding ticket in Kentucky for going 18 over the speed limit.

I was in the wife's car.

Kind of worried about the wife's insurance but they just ignored the ticket but not Geico.

My insurance went from just over $200.00 for property damage and liability to 560 something.

I called but they didn't care I had been a good customer for years, pay it or not.

I now have Insurance with Progressive for around 215 that has full coverage, towing, motel stay etc.

I figured it out. Because he is MSF certified, and therfore more cautious heads up etc they figure he wont be in an accident so they wont be able to jack the rates. I hate insurance, we are betting against ourselves. The ins company is betting we wont need it and we are betting we will, but if you do need it then you pay again with higher rates.

GEICO has got to pay for all the advertising. Also the policyholders paid for Warren Buffett to buy a railroad. Buffett has openly stated in insurance publications that an insurance company is one of the best cash cows you can own. You have all the money coming in to invest until you pay a claim. He is now complaining that with all the claims from storms he doesn't have the money long enough to get a good investement return. I had an auto insurance customer in my office last week that had been with gottago for 4 years and had an accident and their rate went to $400 per month. I gave them the same coveage for $175 per month. I have learned that if you advertise anything long enough people will buy it without checking around.

I have Progressive for both bikes and have had it n the Vulcan for at least 6 years. Full coverage, never an issue. I use Amica for my truck and car and they are simply the best as far as I am concerned. I had some guy fly over 2 lanes and proceeded to wipe out the front end of my car. He had GENERAL insurance, the one with the animated general on TV. I was told they are one step above being uninsured, to which idk. Amica had given me a rental immediately, had my car towed to the Toyota shop, had cut check for repairs and parts within 36 hrs and I had to do nothing but watch then kick some royal GENERAL INSURANCE tail....

i have allied, its a sub of nationwide, treated me real good when i hit the deer last month, never raised my rate because of accident, pay $382.00 year for full coverage. don't think thats too bad considering the coverage i have!

Apparently, at Geico when they look up "MSF Instructor", there must be a picture of 4 motorcycles in the "Cage Of Death!" from the Circus. That would explain why they don't want to insure you. Those Cages of Death are... deadly. :whistling:

The only thing I could think of is that you are going to use it in the course and they think that would make it for commercial use?? Just guessing.

This doesn't make any sense to me. I think you should call GEICO back to ask about MSF Instructor discounts. Check out http://www.geico.com/information/discounts/motorcycle-insurance-discounts/

As for your premiums, all companies come up with their own methods to identify and price different risks. One company may be less expensive for a particular person, but much more expensive for other folks. My bet is that most folks find GEICO's rates very competitive.

Disclaimer: Although I'm not in sales and am only voicing my personal opinion, I do work for GEICO in IT. The folks on the phone should be able to help you out.

Well it makes sense. When you take the safety course, you get a discount.

So, who pays for the discount, the instructor of course. You didn't think the insurance company was going to pay for it, did you? :rotf:

Yep...that's funny

Maybe Geico didn't want to give all the discounts is the reason they wouldn't insure me. 5% discount for being a mature rider, another for having my cars insured with them and 20% for being a MSF instructor. That would be about 30 to35% off.
