Anyone know of a dealer in the northern Chicago suburb area (Lake County, IL) that has a good selection of modular helmets? I want to try them on before buying. I like the current 3/4 HJC helmet I wear but after a while, my forehead gets sore. I think it should more oblong than round if that makes sense.

Not sure about modular helmets But thing that sold me on the helmets we have was that they advertised made for American heads which tend to be more Oval than round and I have been very happy with the fit. They are ZR1 and I don't know if they make modular helmets. But that will be a ? I ask on my next helmet purchase are they oval or round.

I plan on stopping there some weekend. I also just found out the motorcycle show is coming up in Feb. so I should be able to try just about everything available there.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find the ZR1 helmets at the show.

You may already have your new helmet by now but I thought I would pass this along. Reading and advertisement in Cycle World ( bought it for the short article on the Venture ) for Arai Helmets there Signet Q is designed for our "longish heads".

Thanks for the info. I tried the Signet Q on at a motorcycle show this weekend and your are right, it fit perfectly. Now my problem is that I really don't want a full face. :confused07:

I learned a lot at the show talking with various helmet vendors. Based on measurements, I should be wearing a large. The HJC 3/4 helmet I currently wear is a XXL! I guess I really do have a long oval shaped head.

I'm still looking and may just use the existing helmet for another season.
