Hog Buyer Posted January 23, 2013 #1 Posted January 23, 2013 I have a 2009 RSTD that I've had about 1.5 years. Shortly after I purchased it I was lifting it with a motorcycle jack and the bike came to rest on the rear lift arm of the jack where a small bracket is welded to the bottom of the bike frame. The bracket bent over. The bracket is about 1" x 7" and I believe it has a couple of holes in it. I've been riding the bike ever since and see no issue but I'm wondering what this bracket was for. Could it be possibly for a center stand? Thanks for any input.
Freebird Posted January 23, 2013 #2 Posted January 23, 2013 Nobody really knows what it was for. I heard that it was used to attach a display stand that Yamaha used. Yamaha never offered a center stand for the RSV. There were some on the aftermarket from Rivco, Diamond R Accessories and myself that do use that bracket for mounting.
Cougar Posted January 23, 2013 #3 Posted January 23, 2013 I was told a long time it that was for shipping purpose in the creates. Have my passanger foots rest attached to it now
eusa1 Posted January 23, 2013 #4 Posted January 23, 2013 I have taken over a dozen new ventures out of the crate at the dealership over the years, and have never seen anything mounted to them. i do have a rivco center stand mounted to my rsv, and a diamondr stand mounted to the wifes rstd.
DarkLeftArm Posted January 23, 2013 #5 Posted January 23, 2013 Mine has a charcoal cannister for Californin emissions bolted to it. Along with a centerstand.
Carbon_One Posted January 24, 2013 #6 Posted January 24, 2013 My guess is that the factory uses that bracket to hold the frame during production. Larry
k9cottage Posted January 24, 2013 #7 Posted January 24, 2013 mine has a part of the sidecar rear frame attached to it came in very handy.
