Venturous Randy Posted January 22, 2013 #1 Posted January 22, 2013 During my physical, my doctor asked me about my daily activity level, and so I described a typical day this way: "Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded along the edge of a lake, drank eight beers, escaped from wild dogs in the heavy brush, marched up and down several rocky hills, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quicksand, jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake and took four "leaks" behind big trees." Inspired by the story, the doctor said, "You must be one hell of an outdoors man!" "No," I replied, "I'm just a crappy golfer." RandyA
Eck Posted January 22, 2013 #2 Posted January 22, 2013 :rotf: I think I played that same course............
alwrmcusn Posted January 22, 2013 #3 Posted January 22, 2013 True story: I first "learned" golf while stationed at NCS Rota in Spain. I was awful! After about two years of "playing" I gave it up on the 9th hole of the course on the base. I was with two other guys (about the same level of expertise as myself (smile)). I teed up on 9 and actually hit a pretty good shot down the fairway. When we all approached our respective second shots I found that I was up. I took out an iron (don't remember which), did the prerequisite waggle, gave a mighty swing and watched the ball rise rapidly up, higher, higher and veer right. Not just a little bit to the right but enough for the ball to actually land in the next fairway over to the right and considerably behind me! The other two guys hit their shots in the general direction of the green and we all walked on. I left that ball in the other fairway and strolled on. They asked me if I was going to go find and hit. I said "Nope, that's it, I quit". I kept walking past the green to the main gate area (just beyond the 9th green) where there was a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop. I had a banana split, walked up the street to the clubhouse put my clubs in the car and drove home. Sold the clubs, bag and pull cart for $10. All my golf is now watching it on TV or playing it on a PS3 (where I'm actually pretty good at it (smile)).
