Snaggletooth Posted January 15, 2013 #1 Posted January 15, 2013 Ever wondered what the acceptable standard is for dropped food? So much for the 5 Second Rule. I never liked that one anyway. The cat always got there first.
Flyinfool Posted January 15, 2013 #2 Posted January 15, 2013 When I drop food I don't even bother to look down to see where it landed. The dog usually gets it on the way down. Dogs are a lot faster and smarter than cats. If it does hit the floor, it will never last 5 seconds anyhow before the dog has it, even if she is on the opposite side of the house. It is safest to just get out of the way. I find it amazing how the dog can sense falling food, even while sound asleep and still wake up and be there to catch it even from a great distance.
Yamamike Posted January 15, 2013 #3 Posted January 15, 2013 Hmmmmm...so let's see if I have this straight...there is no acutal time limit??? I like this new rule!!
Flyinfool Posted January 15, 2013 #4 Posted January 15, 2013 Hmmmmm...so let's see if I have this straight...there is no acutal time limit??? I like this new rule!! I think there is still a time limit, but that can depend on the particular food item and the particular floor. A dry cookie on a clean floor that has been there a full day could still be good. A steak on that same clean floor would not be good after a full day. Any food dropped on the bathroom floor for any amount of time would not be good.
Black Owl Posted January 15, 2013 #5 Posted January 15, 2013 Quite evident that the charter has never been in a combat environment. In that environment the only question is "Can you scrape off the majority of the crap on it?" And if you are a jarhead even that question does not get asked.
bongobobny Posted January 15, 2013 #6 Posted January 15, 2013 Yes, I don't see any block for "Just how hungry are you??"
Black Owl Posted January 15, 2013 #7 Posted January 15, 2013 Yes, I don't see any block for "Just how hungry are you??" Been there, done that... on too many occasions
mbrood Posted January 15, 2013 #8 Posted January 15, 2013 Submariner rule: It's ok to eat old meat... it is NOT ok to eat old green meat.
