spear Posted January 12, 2013 #3 Posted January 12, 2013 We were expected to hit 113 in my neck of the woods today, but only made it to 106. Gonna hang around for a another week or so they tell us.
alwrmcusn Posted January 12, 2013 #4 Posted January 12, 2013 The day that Hannah and I flew out of Learmouth near Exmouth when I retired, I heard someone say that it was 123 degrees. Two weeks later when we landed in Knoxville, it was in the upper 40's. Geez we nearly froze walking out to the car!
Flyinfool Posted January 12, 2013 #5 Posted January 12, 2013 Several years ago my boss tried to get me to fly to Australia in January because the air conditioners that we built were failing. I thought it sounded like fun till I found out that they were failing because the temps were 130-140+F in the shade. The AC units were only designed for a max of 130F. I then explained to my boss that he should go, and I will stay here to figure out what needs to be done and then he can implement the field change. I spent a bunch of time running in and out of a 150F environmental chamber testing the "fix". that was bad enough. I cant imagine being there. I don't do heat well.
Aussie Annie Posted January 14, 2013 #6 Posted January 14, 2013 We were expected to hit 113 in my neck of the woods today, but only made it to 106. Gonna hang around for a another week or so they tell us. We've already had that weather :scorched:
spear Posted January 14, 2013 #7 Posted January 14, 2013 We've already had that weather :scorched: See - told ya it would work its way over here!
Aussie Annie Posted January 14, 2013 #8 Posted January 14, 2013 Thankfully we didn't have a lot of fires. Feel so much for those in the Eastern states that have lost homes. Sending some money to the Salvo's....... hope it helps
spear Posted January 15, 2013 #9 Posted January 15, 2013 Now the fires are close to home Annie. You can nearly see the Warrumbungles from here. Good friends live on a couple of thousand acres to the south-west but are far enough away not to be too worried. http://www.dailyliberal.com.au/story/1234488/bushland-inferno/?cs=112
Dano Posted January 15, 2013 #10 Posted January 15, 2013 Glad to hear both of you are OK down there (even Allan!) :225:
