mralex714 Posted January 11, 2013 #1 Posted January 11, 2013 I just bought this from ebay. Is anyone familiar with it? I think it is from progressive suspension, but doesn't look like anything on their site. bongobobny Posted January 11, 2013 #2 Posted January 11, 2013 Sure does look like progressive, and for what you paid for it, even used, you got a good deal...

It does have an air valve on it. The spring says "progressive suspension 1154 800/900" can't read the writing on the shock:confused:
Venture n Dixie Posted January 18, 2013 #4 Posted January 18, 2013 Don't know if this helps or hurts but here's what they were selling in 2002. Looks like they'll rebuild it for you so they should have any lit you'd need. Ask. http://web.archive.org/web/20030126034404/http://progressivesuspension.com/applications/partsnf.asp?Mcat=YAMAHA&Scat=Venture_Std&Tcat=83-88
Freebird Posted January 18, 2013 #5 Posted January 18, 2013 If it is a Progressive, it looks like you got a bargain on it. Congrats.
jasonm. Posted January 27, 2013 #6 Posted January 27, 2013 the progressive shock for 1st gens was not available for long. You know you have one if the damping is adjusted by a screw or allen wrench. The only thing many did not like on the shock was the collar spring adjustment like a sport bike. Do not use a screw driver and hammer to adjust spring preload. Get the proper tool. Which makes it easier. Great for solo riders or someone who does not change their basic load for day to day. Progressive-They are really good shocks. That's a find.
Snaggletooth Posted January 27, 2013 #7 Posted January 27, 2013 Nice catch! For what they are listing for on their site you got a heck of a deal. Enjoy
mralex714 Posted February 1, 2013 Author #8 Posted February 1, 2013 Going on at the next tire change.
Guest Robair 1946 Posted March 7, 2013 #9 Posted March 7, 2013 The red spring identifies it as Progressive. It will make a big difference in the ride and handling of your bike. I have them on both of my Ventures, 89 and 85, both with less than 20,000 miles. Progressive springs for the front are a great idea too, as is a Superbrace for brace.

Superbrace already installed and progressive springs in hand.
