Ponch Posted February 1, 2008 #1 Posted February 1, 2008 Anybody remove the inner fairing on a G2? I opened the fairing to add an air horn and found the windshield mount bar tabs were busted off the inner fairing. Also the two inner tabs (center bolts on windshield) on the outer part of the fairing were busted off and the male lug on the right side lower cowling was busted off. Wilderbeast is still under waranty (04) and I can't believe it but Yamaha is going to warant the parts. Dealer wants to charge me to hook up my air horn and passing lights (already installed), so I thought I would do the job myself. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ponch
BuddyRich Posted February 1, 2008 #2 Posted February 1, 2008 I have a couple of broken tabs also. Guess I'll get mine done next winter. I would probably do the air horn myself.
Pilot Posted February 1, 2008 #3 Posted February 1, 2008 It is very easy to break that plastic tab on the lower fairing. I reinforced mine with some epoxy. The metal bar that your refering to is held in place on the ends with a real cheap half moon plastic tab which is formed on the inner fairing. Your pics are a bit poor so I can't tell for sure but the plastic half moons on the inner fairing look OK. Those two bolt holes in the middle of your outer fairing probable broke because of the stress of not having the metal bar secured on the ends. It's great that Yama is replacing the parts for you. The Yamaha warranty on these bikes is second to none and is one of the reason I'm on my 2nd RSV.
