FROG MAN Posted January 31, 2008 #1 Posted January 31, 2008 I got to do something this year. I'm thinking about starting a split rail fence above the road bank. This will give me something to do on the weekends while camping.I will need about 300 ft when I'm done. Mamamo has other landscaping projects she can do over the next few years. Hopefully in a couple years we will have the old house torn down and can start on a post pillar foundation. Were going to build a rustic butt and pass style log cabin. I'm talking cut and debark the logs, rebar pinned together complete with tin roof. Ours will be a little bigger then this one a goldwing rider is building in Oklahoma. Check out there link. http://www.vernstreet.com/loghome.htm Here is a picture of the fence type. I may use locust post for this.
Gene-b Posted January 31, 2008 #2 Posted January 31, 2008 You ride a motorcycle and you are looking for somthing to do on the weekend??????????
FROG MAN Posted January 31, 2008 Author #3 Posted January 31, 2008 Can't play all the time. Two days off I work on Saturday and ride on Sunday.Looking to the future the sooner I can get across that creek the more time to ride.:) Would you like to have my driveway?
Freebird Posted January 31, 2008 #4 Posted January 31, 2008 The cabin is neat but a LOT more work than this old boy wants to do. I would like to have a fence like that across the front of my place and down both sides of the driveway. Very nice.
Guest Popeye Posted January 31, 2008 #5 Posted January 31, 2008 I helped a neighbor with his log house for a few weeks once. Hope you got a LOT of very good friends & family members with strong backs, & time to spare. Not to mention a HUGE bank account. He did put up a big pole barn first.....very smart.
Gene-b Posted January 31, 2008 #6 Posted January 31, 2008 Interesting driveway! Your the only guy I know that can stock trout in your driveway
Freebird Posted January 31, 2008 #7 Posted January 31, 2008 Once upon a time, I had planned to go with one of these log homes. At the time, I lived about 40 miles from their headquarters. They have a community of their homes there and some of them were fantastic. http://satterwhite-log-homes.com/
FROG MAN Posted February 1, 2008 Author #9 Posted February 1, 2008 Gene I picked a venture up at 10:00 pm at night by my self in the middle of that creek. Momamo was to wet and mad to help. I have a good record at keeping it upright most of the time. Ask her about the other times.:whistling::whistling:We catch creek chubs out of there for fishing bait.

FROG MAN Posted February 1, 2008 Author #11 Posted February 1, 2008 What is a chub? Bait! A small minnow type fish. Big fish love them and we love big fish.
Gene-b Posted February 1, 2008 #12 Posted February 1, 2008 No BIG fish in Colorado. I do Fly Fish in the Mountian rivers and streams! Usually up around Fairplay or Winter Park Colorado, Ultra light gear #18 fly (hook) with 2 # line. Almost all "catch and reliece". What a blast! Gene
Gene-b Posted February 1, 2008 #13 Posted February 1, 2008 How Did We Go From "landscaping" To "fishing" ??????
FROG MAN Posted February 1, 2008 Author #14 Posted February 1, 2008 Going from work to play mode is very easy. O.k breaks over. How does that song go? Oh yea I'm gonna miss her when I get home.OUCH
MamaMo Posted February 1, 2008 #15 Posted February 1, 2008 What the FrogMan forgot to say is he likes to go out and play when I have to work on Sunday. :buttkick:That is when he decides to take the bike for a ride. Sat. we have to work. Only day off together for working on projects. As for the driveway that is why I got the voyager kit on a 99. :thumbsup:Landscaping ideas yes on the rail fence. I want to plant some flowers. Also want to plan a patio with area for a firepit or a standing firepit.

Why don't you jumb on this afternoon and take a ride! I am planing to be out on the bike for a while today also. We can take a ride together in different States.
FROG MAN Posted February 9, 2008 Author #23 Posted February 9, 2008 I got a super deal on two hole locust post and 8ft rails. You might call it a 1/2 price sale. Momamo picked up some awesome red and charcoal mix block for the fire pit. Let the fun (ouch my back) begin. Now if it just quits snowing calling for two inches tonight.
Squidley Posted February 9, 2008 #24 Posted February 9, 2008 That woman is going to work you right into the grave Froggie, better start some Saturday riding also
Gene-b Posted February 9, 2008 #25 Posted February 9, 2008 Hey Frog Man and Momamo! While you were out shoping for all the landscping stuff I spent the afternoon waxing my bike! I's 55 today and the snow is melting FAST:happy65:. Just got a call from my friend Jeff, he rides a 2000 Red Venture. So I have to meet him for breakfast in the morning, then go to Church and then :7_6_3[1]: Have fun digging holes in the snow! Gene
