Venturous Randy Posted December 20, 2012 #26 Posted December 20, 2012 Maintenance Day at Freebird's year before last was the first trip for Linda and me for six days on the bike. When she came to my house with several bags of stuff, I had her spread everything out on the bed. When I started saying "You can't take this, you can't take that....", I thought she was going to get upset. She had things like a can of hairspray that was as big as a liter Coke and all kinds of stuff. Before we left the next morning, I went to Walmart and picked up most all of the stuff she wanted to bring in the little travel sizes and she was happy again. We were able to take everything we needed and things we did not use and still done fine. This says a lot because I always take a well stocked tool bag and I also took my laptop and for the 1st gen MKI's with the small bags, space is limited. I did take a bag that I put on the trunk rack that was fairly light and put my bike cover in front of the bag, which Linda used as an extended back rest. When all was said and done, we realized that with all we did, she never used the hairspray. RandyA
alwrmcusn Posted December 20, 2012 #27 Posted December 20, 2012 Oh one more thing, concerning those trunk/saddle bag liners...they would be nice but we simply use those reusable bags that all the stores have. They are usually about $1 each, they are flexible so you can push/poke/prod them into position. They are easily carried and did I mention that they are cheap like me!
cb1313 Posted December 20, 2012 #28 Posted December 20, 2012 If want to save some money on liner bags measure the saddle bags and the go to stores ( Dollar Store/cheap stores) and look at kids packpacks. they are cheap and you have a backpack when you go traveling. cb
