I have a '99 Royal Star 4 into 4 exhaust, I have found a hitch but as another option was wondering if I could get a hitch and 2 fender rails from a Venture or RSTD and use those. Are the rails strong enough to use alone without the exhaust support brackets and will the mounting holes on the fender be the same (9 1/4 in.)? This site is a wealth of info, thanks Michael.

I'm not 100% sure if the hitches I make will fit your bike but check out my ad and see if they'll work. I haven't had any problems reported from customers towing anything with my hitch installed. It simply replaces the cross bar between the saddle bag/ muffler supports and will fit all 99-to present RSV's and 05 to 09 RSTD's

BTW: if by chance your bike uses different dimensions let me know and I could make a hitch to fit easily enough

Thanks Larry, your hitch is the one I want, my bike just doesn't have the long fender rails and exhaust-bag supports. I want to buy these- http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-YAMAHA-XVZ1300CT-XVZ1300-ROYAL-STAR-TOUR-DLX-REAR-FENDER-STRUTS-RAILS-/251123237816?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a781c83b8&vxp=mtr#ht_9967wt_4506 and use your hitch. I guess my main question is, will these work on my bike and are they ok to use alone with the hitch as I won't have the exhaust and bag supports, my concern is does the exhaust supports add structural stability to keep the fender rails rigid and not flex from side to side. I believe I read somewhere that they would fit any Royal Star and they look like they would be strong enough by themselves, i was just wanting some expert advice from some of you guys before I went that direction, i've found a Hitch Doc for my bike but it's a verticle receiver and i would rather have a horizontal type. Does anyone know if this will work?:confused24: Thanks again, Michael.

I am not sure how hitches are being attached to the early model Royal Stars that do not have the saddle bag supports with the cross member that connects the left to the right under the rear fender. I would not think the fender even with the stays you linked to is strong enough to take a trailer.

The Ventures, New Tour DeLuxe and older Royals that had the 4 into 2 pipes used the saddle bag supports in the links below. I am not sure how those would fit or look with your set up, but I know these are strong enough to handle a trailer.

Steve thanks for the info, i also had seen those and thought about doing just what you are talking about but i think i would have to change my exhaust to a 4 into 2 as the 4x4 wont work with those exhaust/bag brackets. I have some nice hard bags i plan on installing and want to get a hitch on it to double as bag supports, i think the Hitch Doc with the wide/heavy fender supports is my best bet. I also saw an older post of yours over on delphi about your wiring harness, if i get this going i may be interested in one those. Getting any ride time in down there in Fla.? This Ky. wheather is too crazy, warm one day cold the next, but i sqeeze some 2 wheelin' in every chance i can! Mike

I don't get to ride as much as I want, but did do a 400 mile lunch run on Saturday, weather has been OK.

I have Royal Star harnesses in stock most all the time, If have to build one or do a custom usually only takes a day or so to get it out.
