How little I know about my bike!

Do you have a Battery Tender? It should be easy to get you up and running again.

 

No, I don't have one, but I think it sounds like I may spend the money! I just need to get it running at the weekend and go from there.

 

I'll definitely look into them though.

I did not read every post word for word.

 

Now you know where and many have talked about a battery tender. If you plan on using a battery charger that you have make sure it's not over a 2 AMP or figure on replacing the battery if you leave it on too long. The smaller batteries need a slow charge. Hope it helps.

Don't charge your battery with more than a 2 amp charger. Remember a dead battery will freeze and bust and the acid will run down the side of your bike, and a charged battery will not freeze. A Battery Tender is the only way to go, the bike will be ready to go when you are and your battery will last for many years if it never got dead. I got 5 years each out of the last 2 batteries I had. Don't forget to add gas Stabalizer if your bike is going to set for more than a month.

I am planning on riding up to Helen this weekend. You could go to Autozone and buy the automatic trickle charger for $29.00 and hook it up to your battery. I have one and it works great.It is a "float" charger--it cuts its self off when the battery gets full charge but maintains that full status if it needs to bring it back up to charge. If you wanted to meet up Ken and I could help you install it--take about 10 min. tops.

Sounds good, Craig, but I'm not sure what's happening and when yet this weekend. I MAY be going to Anderson, SC on Saturday so that will shoot out the whole day.

 

Sunday is the Super Bowl, so the day is relatively shot with church, getting ready for company and the game itself.

 

However, church is in Helen, so if I can get the bike running, I'll ride up there and we can at least meet up.

 

Do you have a schedule (at least a rough one) worked out?

If you had a First Gen all you would need is chaps gloves and a jacket but seeing as how you are on a Second gen you do need winter clothing:stirthepot::stirthepot:

What??!! It's too cold in Georgia to ride? I was out today in 20 degrees. Had a rare sunny day with dry roads.
