rougeray Posted December 6, 2012 #1 Posted December 6, 2012 While quenching a thirst at the local watering hole, I started describing my problem with fellow rider. The bartender advised he, had a friend who could probable help me out. To make a long story short, his friend came by my house with his truck and tig wielded my bracket in place. He also helped remove a galled bolt. For this he charged me $40. I considered this a bargain as the local dealer wanted $520 for a new bracket but offered me a deal of $399 as I was a good customer. With the tax that would have come to $440!
we2riders Posted December 6, 2012 #3 Posted December 6, 2012 PLUS you gave someone a JOB, no matter how small the amount is I believe in spending locally = everybody wins!!!
dacheedah Posted December 6, 2012 #4 Posted December 6, 2012 That should have been covered in the five year warranty, if a weld is not covered, then what is? That is not normal maintenance unless there is an accident or misuse. Glad you got it fix'd, reminds us to check our bikes for the general condition. He did unhook the battery before welding on it didn't he?
Condor Posted December 7, 2012 #5 Posted December 7, 2012 Don't forget to spray the weld with a clear coat.....?
