Rick, Planning to join the Galena 2013 International Rally and then head west. Fellow rider in Colorado offered to help me with oil change, if I choose to do so. Or, he said we could go shooting. :)

We are headed West too after the International. Should compare routes and possibly ride together.

Would like to if it works out. Our destinations are Colorado and Utah. Will most likely take I-80 west to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Told someone in Loveland, Colorado that I would visit him.

Just a suggestion, Think about taking US 30 from Clinton, Iowa all the way to Grand Island, Nebraska then drop down to Hastings, NE and take US 6/US 34 to Loveland, CO. Taking Interstate 80 you will not see much and the traffic runs about 85 MPH. Just a suggestion.

I think there may be a handfull of folks who may extend their International Rally trip by doing further traveling. I know we're thinking of doing this but right now it's a bit too early for me to commit for anything solid. Sure like the idea of sharing more road time with folks here thou.

Southern Utah is a MUST. Hogs back road (US 12) to Escalante is amazing as is Red Canyons, Brice and Zion. Black Canyons of the Gunnisons in Colorado is great also. If you are doing very many national parks get a US park pass it will save you some money. If you are under 65 they are $80 if over 65 they are $10, If you are a DAV they are free. They are good for a year and even most State parks accept them as well. Also Mt Evans is a must in Colorado Highest paved road in USA another cool ride is the moki dugway

on our long trip around oz when getting near change time would pick up oil and filter then ride till we found a main roads camp site where they had bluemetal and old road bituman dumped we would dig a hole park the bike over the hole dump the oil and filter in the hole fill it in and move on .

On our "VentureWest" trip last year, I found a garage near our hotel and asked if I could have an empty oil jug. I cut a hole in its side and drained my oil into that empty jug. Then I used the spout of that jug to pour the oil from my oil change into the jug I had just emptied from the oil change. Did all this in the hotel parking lot. The bonus was that the garage offered to take my jug of used oil for its disposal. Wasn't much hassle and I sure felt better running with fresh oil for the rest of our trip.
