jonesy Posted November 19, 2012 #1 Posted November 19, 2012 Going to need 5 rooms next Oct., want French Quarter area, We're not rich and are looking for some place clean, near the center of things. Any suggestions?
etcswjoe Posted November 19, 2012 #2 Posted November 19, 2012 Don't Stay in the French Quarter the decent hotels are expensive and the cheap ones are well just that cheap. Also you will have to pay parking in the French Quarter hotels. The casinos are not too bad but if you don't gamble the parking fees will eat you up. I always look in Metarie or Kenner before looking in the Quarter.
bongobobny Posted November 19, 2012 #3 Posted November 19, 2012 Hmmmm, CLEAN and FRENCH QUARTER together in the same sentence... Illogical, irrational, does not compute!! Error!! Error!! Self Distruct!!!

DragonRider Posted November 19, 2012 #5 Posted November 19, 2012 The Marriott and the Sheraton are both on Canal St. at the edge of the French Quarter, you really dont want to stay in the French Quarter, it stinks like piss and stale beer, and noisy as all get out.

I personally prefer to stay within walking distance due to the traffic and lack of parking if they make me go down there! There's a lot of neat stores and good restaurants in that area, too. Self Distruct!!! Last time I was there, the city comes thru every morning with street sweepers and pressure wash the streets. They really put an effort to keeping it clean. Now during the night, it can get pretty bad during the festivals.
