Hawg Posted November 11, 2012 #1 Posted November 11, 2012 what size socket do you use to remove the brake pad pins from the caliper? Is it a 6mm 12 point? Thanks
Flyinfool Posted November 11, 2012 #2 Posted November 11, 2012 None. Those pins are not threaded in. On the inside of the caliper there are 2 wire clips to hold the pins in. The head is just so you can turn the pin to get at the clip. You should be able to turn the pin with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you turn the pins a full turn with a wrench you will mangle the clips making them very hard to get out and then you will need new ones. Don't ask how I know all this........
Hawg Posted November 11, 2012 Author #3 Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks for the info. I will check that out
pmelah Posted November 11, 2012 #4 Posted November 11, 2012 i wont ask how you know but i do assume you know some one who made that judgement call before while on the subject is there anything else he should look at?? i mean while he is there things to check rotar displacement blinker fluid muffler bearings you know the usual stuff:stirthepot::rotf:
Hawg Posted November 11, 2012 Author #5 Posted November 11, 2012 I have already checked all that other good stuff. had to replace one muffler bearing it was squeeky....The piston return springs looked in good shape though
Flyinfool Posted November 11, 2012 #6 Posted November 11, 2012 But never underestimate the importance of regular service to the blinker fluid.
pmelah Posted November 11, 2012 #7 Posted November 11, 2012 that's good now i am about to go out side and do the clutch replacement on the RSTD and then go for a long ride i also got 4 new piston return springs but i still don't think its gona make it faster than my 1st gen
cabreco Posted January 2, 2013 #8 Posted January 2, 2013 But never underestimate the importance of regular service to the blinker fluid. Definitely A great source for hard to find items! http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=9&zenid=cdv2akv4pqd00l9o10e695t0m6
