Hawg Posted November 7, 2012 #1 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi guys I am looking for the cb/am/fm antenna. anyone have one they wnat to get rid of for an 88-93?
Squidley Posted November 7, 2012 #2 Posted November 7, 2012 Unless you are dead set on getting a stock one, a better idea is to go purchase a Firestik and install it. It's tuneable for the CB and they are about $20. You'll have to change the mount, but you'll end up with newer better technology.
utadventure Posted November 8, 2012 #3 Posted November 8, 2012 The stock antenna are sub-standard to say the least, and a used one would be more suspect. Like was said, buy a Firestick with a tunable tip and install it in place of the stock. You'll be much happier. Dave
Hawg Posted November 8, 2012 Author #4 Posted November 8, 2012 I'm not really concerned so much for the cb operation as I am to restoring the bike to as original as possible. I just have a thing for making things as they were from the day it left the dealer....
painterman67 Posted November 8, 2012 #5 Posted November 8, 2012 Hey Hawg.....I see your not interested in using cb but the firstick type antennas do work and are cheap to do. I dont tend to agree with Squidley on changing the mount unless hes talking about the stud. Here's what i did. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57269 Either way good luck David
lsutley Posted November 8, 2012 #6 Posted November 8, 2012 I have two original antennas mounted on my 86. I plan changing both over to the Firestick "Firefly" antennas this winter. If you want original antennas and brackets they are available. They are installed with spacers to clear the trunk trim bar, if that is another concern. They can be used either way.
