mini-muffin Posted November 4, 2012 #2 Posted November 4, 2012 Ok I'll bite what's so interesting about them numbers? Since you didn't put any pics. Margaret
XV1100SE Posted November 4, 2012 #3 Posted November 4, 2012 '83 Venture "Rat" hot rod. Looks cool. Might even be able to keep up with a 2nd Gen without all that plastic ! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Custom-Rat-Rod-Hot-Rod-Bike-1983-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-/261122338968?forcev4exp=true
Stanman Posted November 4, 2012 #4 Posted November 4, 2012 Sorry, I think its fugly. Transforming a beautiful touring bike into a "crotch rocket"?? EEWWWWWW!!! But for those who like it, have at it.
Gojira Posted November 4, 2012 #5 Posted November 4, 2012 I like how it looks, but seems like it would've been easier just to clean up a V-Max.
dingy Posted November 4, 2012 #6 Posted November 4, 2012 Probably not that all different from where my winter project may end up. Better seat on mine i hope, bigger fenders. I do like the reduced plastic & minimal lighting & instrumentation look. Attached couple of pictures of ebay listing. Gary
Freebird Posted November 4, 2012 #7 Posted November 4, 2012 I actually think it looks pretty good. I do wonder if before doing all that work, he took the time to update 2nd gear. Also, I would not be crazy about impaling myself on those air intakes.
djh3 Posted November 4, 2012 #8 Posted November 4, 2012 Yea I was going to say it looks alot like a V-max to me. Sure would be easier to start there, less stuff i the dumpster too. Not for me. If I wanted something that looked like that I'd by a Sporster or something, maybe one of the XR harleys
dingy Posted November 4, 2012 #9 Posted November 4, 2012 Yea I was going to say it looks alot like a V-max to me. Sure would be easier to start there, less stuff i the dumpster too. Not for me. If I wanted something that looked like that I'd by a Sporster or something, maybe one of the XR harleys I am using an RSV to start on mine, think of all the dead weight that is there. None going in dumpster though, I only got stuff I was going to use. Thanks to Wrenchrob, Wizard765, Bongobobny, Dragonrider, Skydoc & Dano for help so far. It may be a quick RSV when I get done, who would have thought that possible ? Gary
icebrrg3rd Posted November 5, 2012 #10 Posted November 5, 2012 Yea I was going to say it looks alot like a V-max to me. Sure would be easier to start there... But with a V-Max you'd have the rear shocks exposed on the swingarm, with the Venture you have the hidden mono shock. Plus V-Maxs seem to command a higher resale price, where as a Venture can be gotten for cheap, especially if all the plastic is damaged/missing already. Not that bad, not for me tho, and I too would hate to hit those carb intakes on a rapid deceleration maneuver. -Andrew
bendtdj Posted November 5, 2012 #11 Posted November 5, 2012 I gotta admire the ingenuity (sp?). Not my style though. Dave
