Next years ride?

I am thinking of running down to North Carolina and ride The Devils Whip. Anyone ride that road?

Numerous times pretty good road but there are not many bad roads in that area.

We are thinking of heading down to Florida next year and maybe hitting this road and a few others on the way down. If not, maybe the upper east part of the US of A through Pa, NY, all the way up to the tip of Maine then down the coastline. Maybe gone two full weeks.

I think I would come down through WV to the New River Gorge, down 16 to Tazewell Va along the back of the dragon down to 421 over to 80 then down to Marion NC.

When you plan the trip let folks know we have plenty of NC members out in that direction. I'm guessing the coast is not on your itinerary for next year. Maybe next time. Plenty of stuff to see that way. Ride down NC12 with the ocean on one side and the sound on the other.

I will have to do that. But I don't know if I will be able to keep up with the 1st Gen

And in that area, does anybody know how 226A is. (1rooster, I'm kind of glancing your way.) I'm looking at a loop including 80, some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and 226A. Probably including Mt. Mitchell.

 

My biggest problem is that Irene has fallen in love with Otter Creek and Tellico Roads (Closer to The Dragon/Cherohala - gravel - not really suitable for a Venture) so I'm going to have a time talking her into something else for a three-day weekend.

226 and 226A are both great rides and just up the BRP from Hwy 80.

I personally was NOT impressed with riding the Devils Whip...

There are way to many other great roads in the area to ride other then this one..

This is my 2 cents worth and Im sticking to it..

Thanks guys. 226A looks good on Google maps. Right now I'm planning on starting in the Cherokee area and heading up to do 226A and whatever else I can find that looks good and twisty in the area. Time to fire up Google maps and look at 226 itself.

There are a few not so great roads - big ones used to actually get from one place to another in a bit of a hurry, but overall the entire area seems chock full of great roads. The fact someone slapped a name on one of 'em isn't really all that important. I'll probably do it anyway, but it looks like 226/A will be better (though from Google maps it can be a bit hard to tell).
