Moose Posted January 30, 2008 #7 Posted January 30, 2008 Back in the day, I had a sewer rodding business. My motto was "Your sh*t is my bread and butter". Oh... you know... I really don't miss those days!
mini-muffin Posted January 30, 2008 #8 Posted January 30, 2008 So is the plumbing problem fixed now? Inquiring minds want to know. Yes some of us are that bored. Margaret
Cinderella Posted January 30, 2008 #9 Posted January 30, 2008 NO COMMENT !!!!!!!!!!!! :whistling: I will tell you this tho.......the good part of the story....maybe you remember in the past I said how our plumbing was backing up.....well we have rootered the main line at least 5 times in the last 2 yrs, because it kept backing up ( yeah in my tub, shower, the toilets, you name it) thought it was roots kept getting in the clay tile pipe.......would be good for a short while and need it again. Finally after 2 rooters in 3 weeks times and clogged again....( mind you i had to keep track of how many times the toilet had een flushed or showers had been taken, or dishes washed, etc. so I'd know when to not flush or drain in fear of back up again) I finally called the city and asked if they would check the lines to make sure it wasn't a problem on their part. They sent out a camera guy who sent his camera down the main line.....he found a total block 65 ft out from the house, marked the spot in the yard and offered me referrals to call to dig it up and fix it. Well of course the gas co telephone co, etc came and marked all their lines before digging......telephone co was a lil scared cause their marks showed going right across the blocked area.....so Im fretting this enormous bill for getting this fixed.....as we open the ground up they find the telephone lines running right across the tile pipe, we keep uncovering and see what apears to be cement around the pipe at the place the blockage it.....ah ha.........well when the phone co put their lines in, they hit the tile and broke it and instead of fixing it then and there they took cement and put it around the break on both sides of the pipe as a quick fix...........well this break was enought to allow roots, etc to get in and eventually totally block it..... so the good news is..........guess who has to pay the bill?????? we have pics to cover our butts and the city people siad they would back us up if they give us any problems also the co that we had come to fix it agrees. There was a man from the phone co there and he also agrees it was their fault. woo hoo so glad it wasn't our responsibilty to pay for it. So the money we saved on this we decided the bathrom floor had to be done now that the pipes were running good. What a night mare the floor was from all the water back up...rotted all the way to the floor joists around the toilet. Lucky noone found themselves sitting in the crawl space while taking a well you know what ! At this point I am contemplating a letter to the phone co. letting them know how much easier it would have been to take care of the problem they caused right when they did it......and let them know how many times we had to pay to rooter it out and what it has cost us........and how much the bill is running on fixing the bathroom floor and toilet. Wonder if maybe they will come thru with some funds to help cover all that in order to save face a lil with the community, especially since they are losing a lot of business to TWC now........ ok MINI was that enough info to keep ya occupied for a lil while??? even visual aids for you.......
Guest KitCarson Posted January 30, 2008 #10 Posted January 30, 2008 I got a good-un for all of you!!.....I got a call for a stopped up sewer and went over there and was unable to clear the blockage with the small machine I had on the truck.....so I went home and got my heavy sectional machine and returned.......I cleared the line.......with ease!!. Flushed all the commodes and ran water....threw paper down the drains...all is well!!. About two in the morning the West Columbia Fire Marshall is calling me in the middle of the night.....Kit what did you do......did you pour acid down the sewer main? No ......well we got a gas smell over here.....the entire city street has some kind of problem! I got up and went over there........I instantly smelled natural gas..all these dummies walking around smoking.......first thing I did was move them all back..........what had happened is the gas company had ran a two inch plastic gas line under the street.....core drilled a hole right through the sewer main and in fact installed their new 2 inch gas main right through the sewer tap. I came along and chopped out a 4 inch section of it.....got that line cleared though.:rotfl::rotfl: The 25 PSI high pressure line was simply flowing into the main sewer and venting out all the house vents in the entire block.........That is one of the most dangerous things I have done......or been involved in......all turned out well......could not have......and it was because of a mistake on the utility companies part. Kit
mini-muffin Posted January 30, 2008 #11 Posted January 30, 2008 Wow Cindy you really let us know it all. :rotf: Actually I was just wondering how the problem turned out. Glad they got the idea of where to fix it at now. My dad worked for the phone company for over 40 yrs he use to have all sorts of stories about someone screwing up someone else's work. Phone, electric, sewer, water, and gas. You'd think they'd all keep track of where each other's stuff is. Well now you can give us pics of your new bathroom floor when that's done. Can ya feel the love Cindy? Margaret
