bmxndad Posted October 10, 2012 #1 Posted October 10, 2012 My 99 RSV will start fine in neutral. But will not turn over when in gear with the clutch pulled in. Clutch slave was just rebuilt if that would make any difference. What are the things to check? Kickstand switch? Other? Thanks, Ross
k9cottage Posted October 10, 2012 #2 Posted October 10, 2012 did you plug the switch wires back into clutch leaver assembly
djh3 Posted October 10, 2012 #3 Posted October 10, 2012 Kick stand switch. I dont think mine will start with kick stand down and clutch in.
Trader Posted October 10, 2012 #4 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) It could also be the clutch switch. If it doesn't recognize the clutch is in it won't engage starter (EDIT) Above applies only if in gear) If it is in gear it won't start with sidestand down period...unless the switch is faulty. djh3 Posted October 10, 2012 #5 Posted October 10, 2012 Mine will start in neutral with side stand down or up, pretty sure. I know for sure it will start with bike in neutral at any rate, I do it all the time. Just for grins, make sure you check the kill switch on the right side. I have barley bumped mine and it looks like its OK but really its got the bike shut off. Reset it just for fun.
CaptainJoe Posted October 10, 2012 #6 Posted October 10, 2012 If your kickstand is down it wont start unless your in neutral. believe its a saftery feature so that you dont take off with the kickstand down,,,
bmxndad Posted October 11, 2012 Author #7 Posted October 11, 2012 did you plug the switch wires back into clutch leaver assembly It was not. It is now and all is good. Many Thanks K9cottage.
