KIC Posted October 3, 2012 #2 Posted October 3, 2012 I saw that this morning... pretty cool......no information on mileage or if it would fit into a second Gen to make them faster..... :stirthepot:
PBJ Posted October 3, 2012 #3 Posted October 3, 2012 truly amazing . now all they need to do is develop a diesel version to run a generator and soon electric powered bikes and cars won't be such a dream!
twigg Posted October 3, 2012 #4 Posted October 3, 2012 I saw that this morning... pretty cool......no information on mileage or if it would fit into a second Gen to make them faster..... :stirthepot: Well that didn't take long

RandyR Posted October 3, 2012 #7 Posted October 3, 2012 I think I'll order one to mount in my trunk to run a generator so's I can get more lights.
bendtdj Posted October 3, 2012 #8 Posted October 3, 2012 I saw this yesterday and sent the link to my son at tech school. (He is attending Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls, SD for Auto Mechanics.) His reply, and my feelings exactly, "That's freakin sweet!" Dave
Hummingbird Posted October 3, 2012 #9 Posted October 3, 2012 Well that didn't take long yep, sooner or most likely later, some people will realize that the roses have a much better aroma when you take the time to notice
Ozlander Posted October 4, 2012 #10 Posted October 4, 2012 I saw that this morning... pretty cool......no information on mileage or if it would fit into a second Gen to make them faster..... :stirthepot: If you could add one, it would double the HP. :whistling:
CaptainJoe Posted October 4, 2012 #11 Posted October 4, 2012 Pretty good for a standard engine. Next step would be to supercharge or turbocharge it. Then maybe the first gens will be able to keep up with the second gens... Heck the engines are gonna need replaced soon their being +13 yrs old ...
Flyinfool Posted October 4, 2012 #12 Posted October 4, 2012 Along the same lines there is a guy in Europe that has built a scale 16 cyl Roles Royce engine for a scale Spitfire.
twigg Posted October 4, 2012 #13 Posted October 4, 2012 Along the same lines there is a guy in Europe that has built a scale 16 cyl Roles Royce engine for a scale Spitfire. Shhhh! The RR Merlin engine had 12 cylinders Whatever, that would be a very impressive piece of engineering.
Flyinfool Posted October 4, 2012 #14 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Shhhh! The RR Merlin engine had 12 cylinders Whatever, that would be a very impressive piece of engineering. Your right it is 12 cyl. http://www.enginehistory.org/ModelEngines/merlin_xx.shtml This was done back in 1976 - 81, CNC and CAD/CAM where not all that popular yet. This engine has a 1" bore and 1.2" stroke, for a displacement of 11.31 in3. Construction started in July 1976 and was completed in December 1981. There were significant problems with the operational miniature magnetos, carburetor and fuel system. Over 7,000 parts comprise the engine, and over 6,000 hours were required to complete it. Pretty dang cool... To build that motor,I think I would need a magnifying glass the size of a snow saucer...
Cougar Posted October 4, 2012 #16 Posted October 4, 2012 here is that same engine in a body [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBbFU08s4i8&feature=relmfu]1/4 Scale Grave Digger Part 23B with Stinger 609 - YouTube[/ame]

CaptainJoe Posted October 4, 2012 #18 Posted October 4, 2012 HiTruckGuy :Uh,I think it's got a blower on it already... Just a picture of one??? The attached video is of standard engine.. If, it is about to go into production, would you not think they would video the supercharged version?, er, I mean if it really worked? I know my surpercharged RXP gives you a pucker factor when you lay into it. Lets just say the video was a dissapointment...and did not live up to the title...
CaptainJoe Posted October 5, 2012 #19 Posted October 5, 2012 The very last video on the page titled Stinger 609 production engine is of a supercharged engine in action. Pretty cool. Didn't notice it my first read?
Sideoftheroad Posted October 6, 2012 #20 Posted October 6, 2012 That would be really cool in a 30 scale drag or funny car. Maybe rig up a small co2 cartridge like from a BB gun and you can has NOS.
CaptainJoe Posted October 6, 2012 #21 Posted October 6, 2012 Wonder what the life expectancy on something like that would be?
