lwinders Posted October 1, 2012 #1 Posted October 1, 2012 Has anyone ever mounted a Mr. Gasket 42S fuel pump on a 1st Gen. If so, where and how did you mount it. My stock fuel pump has gone out and I already have a 42S that I used when I was trying to get my '83 running. I would like to use it if possible but I haven't found a good place to mount it. It's a little too big to fit in the location of the stock pump.
twigg Posted October 1, 2012 #2 Posted October 1, 2012 You could probably mount it to the frame holding the left sidecase. You would need slightly longer fuel lines but it shouldn't be an issue.
Peder_y2k Posted October 1, 2012 #3 Posted October 1, 2012 There is also space under the trunk, where the Royale air compressor is located. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83,88 Venture

Just be aware that those pumps "push" better than they "pull" The general guideline is to fit them close to the tank, and as low as reasonable. They are designed for cars so the modest distances and heights on a motorcycle should not prove too troublesome.
reddevilmedic Posted October 1, 2012 #5 Posted October 1, 2012 yes. i did a write up i think. same location, same lines. used zip ties to keep it secure, just in case.
lwinders Posted October 1, 2012 Author #6 Posted October 1, 2012 reddevilmedic Did you have to cut the mounting feet off of the pump to make it fit?
reddevilmedic Posted October 1, 2012 #7 Posted October 1, 2012 just checked. no, no mods. i used one of the tabs to mount to original mounting location. the other tab is unused.
lwinders Posted October 1, 2012 Author #8 Posted October 1, 2012 Thank you very much. I'll give it a try. And thanks for the picture. It is very helpful.
