af226 Posted October 1, 2012 #1 Posted October 1, 2012 Just replaced the pads on the rear of my 85 and now the rear wheel needs alot of convincing to turn. I had to clamp the caliper to get it back on the wheel. Put it all back togeather easily enough. Will it wear down and let loose after a long ride? Its a little hard/near impossible to push it back into the garage. Thanks for the advice.
dingy Posted October 1, 2012 #2 Posted October 1, 2012 Look at thread linked next. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515 Look at picture with caption 'KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU PUT THIS WASHER BACK IN THE RIGHT ORDER WHEN PUTTING BACK TOGETHER!' It is very important the thick washer is in correct position, or the brake arm will be out of alignment and bind up. This write up is for an RSV, but the 85 is same in regards to washer position. bongobobny Posted October 1, 2012 #3 Posted October 1, 2012 Yah! What Dingy said! I'm betting you have the spacer installed in the wrong place...
Trader Posted October 1, 2012 #5 Posted October 1, 2012 so share! What was your "whoops"??? The best way to learn is from OTHER peoples mistakes. It costs us a lot less that way!
Yamamike Posted October 1, 2012 #6 Posted October 1, 2012 Seriously...share! No need to feel embarrassed (even if you do get some ribbing:whistling:.
af226 Posted October 7, 2012 Author #7 Posted October 7, 2012 I put the washer/spacer on the wrong side. Slide out the axle and move it to the outside of the rear brake brace from the wheel side and all is now aok. Thanks everybody.
adventurer 08 Posted October 7, 2012 #8 Posted October 7, 2012 I'm glad to see this post because i just had the same problem when i pulled my rear tire off but i just put washers between the caliper and its mount and it worked out ok. Now that i've seen this i'll fix it the rite way.
GeorgeS Posted October 7, 2012 #9 Posted October 7, 2012 Most of us have done this at least " Once " !!! :no-no-no: Don't feel to bad :whistling: But !!! Its not as bad, as the " Gotcha " involved with re-installing the shift lever linkage, under, the rear left side case cover. :rotf:
adventurer 08 Posted October 7, 2012 #10 Posted October 7, 2012 Just moved my axle washer to the rite place, now everything works perfect!
