Guest KitCarson Posted January 25, 2008 #1 Posted January 25, 2008 Here is my new Bike......all I can tell you is it is a Dandy. Has ABS brakes and radial tires....so I have named it SureFoot. Also a couple photos of an Confederate memorial I found by the Savanaha River.....by the long way home, 264 miles. With heated grips and Seats and toe warmers and motor air vents......pretty warm.

cowpuc Posted January 25, 2008 #11 Posted January 25, 2008 She is a BEAUTY Kit!! I love her front fender chrome, headlights and that tail light assembly is nothing short of awesome!! FINALLY a manufacturer is taking a very serious approach to lighting - I bet that sweetheart lights up the highway like a 747 on a runway!!! THANK YOU for posting the pics,, if you need someone to blame putting up pics on here besides our Venture pics blame me hhahahha- I asked (and glad I did!!!).. Wow thats sharp! On another note,, I have a daughter in Greenville SC.. We take 75 to 40 to 26 (under Ashville) when ever we go see her.. I noticed you are in Lexington - is that like Lexington Kentucky?? If so,, is that memorial close to our route to Greenville?? If so, can you give me a clue - my wife is a major History buff (it was actually her Major in College) and I would love to show her that!!! NICE SCOOT - have a GREAT riding season on SureFoot! 'Puc

And as someone else said, let the chroming begin :rotf:I have seen some of those wings all tricked out - they look sharp to start - and can get really sweet with the right amount of safety features added. Enjoy those new brakes.

I love to ride a bike......but slow and easy most of the time......besides this Carolina crew needs someone to hang back and pick up all the Venture Parts:innocent: It is though the best one I have ever seen for the interstate.....got to watch it 90 sneaks up on you real fast, it just sits there..smooth.

NICE SCOOT - have a GREAT riding season on SureFoot! 'Puc I live in Lexington, South Carolina. That is about two hours southwest of Greenville, South Carolina. And we have a big house.......you are welcome anytime, do not even have to sleep on the floor!! So no it is not on your route......The little Park that is pretty nice.......has those southern trees with all the moss hanging in them.....was off old highway 321 towards Georgia about another hour and a half from my house. I know I can find it again.....but had the fellow at the dealer program home into the GPS........it talked to me all the way home.....I do not even have to look at it. Yes the lighting is fantastic.......even the spoiler has an extra brake light. Plus the main headlights use bulbs....not the dim sealed beams and I figured out a way to hook my modulator to both the high and low beams, so If I want I can run the fog lights and low at the same with it.....and the headlights can be adjusted for angle while riding the bike......not happy with the light......or running a back road at night......angle the lights to see the road.......I think they designed it like that for having a heavy or light load on it.....I travel light.......but love being able to adjust them. The brakes are ABS.......great........all the nonsense you hear about ABS......thats what it is.....nonsense.......the brakes are wonderful. But above all is the handling for a bike of this size.....it has such a low center of gravity.......and handles so easy......easy to forget you are on a 900 pound monster. Tough to get on that center stand though.......maybe if I put some rocks in my pockets that would help!! Those of you curious about the foot position.......and are used to the Venture and or a Harley Ultra....it is simply like going back to a 1st Gen.....more of a sport bike type thing......with the flat brake pedal and toe shifter.......yes you have to adjust to the fact you your toe is under the engine a bit to work the controls.......but this is easily learned in about an hour.........and I have last night put floorboards......heel/toe shift and highway pegs . Kit
buddy Posted January 25, 2008 #16 Posted January 25, 2008 Nice ride you have there Kit, I love the color and body style. Looks like we're catching more of the popeye virus. Good luck on your new baby. buddy
Blackjack Posted January 25, 2008 #17 Posted January 25, 2008 Congratulations, Kit, on your new ride! I am quite sure that you will enjoy your new beast for many years to come. Yesterday afternoon, my neighbor/riding buddy Kenny showed up unexpectedly in my driveway, and my jaw dropped a bit as I went out to greet him. Why? Because he was not riding the Venture he acquired last May, but was sitting astride a brand new Wing! I asked him if he was test-riding the bike and he said "uh, no, I bought it last night!" After looking it over and admiring it together, he suggested that I go get my jacket and gear to take it out for a spin. I said I would love to, but then thought we should go for a ride together. He liked that idea because he wanted to see how the two bikes matched-up on the road. We went to his house to pick up the Venture and off we rode, he on the Venture and myself on the Wing. After about 10 miles we switched bikes, and kept doing that every so often during our 60-70 mile sojourn, some in traffic and some in the open countryside. The results? Honestly, there is no correct way to even try to compare a newer Venture and a Wing, just as there is no appropriate way to compare the 1st and 2nd Gen Ventures. They are completely and extraordinarily different motorcycles! I do think, however, that the Wing is more like a 1st Gen turned into a Cadillac. It is smooth, fast, easy to ride and is completely tricked-out. Like I said, I am sure you will enjoy your new ride... Terry
Squidley Posted January 25, 2008 #18 Posted January 25, 2008 Gonna get rid of Crickett? Nice looking scoot, hope you have a long time with it
Pecker Posted January 25, 2008 #19 Posted January 25, 2008 :bowdown::bowdown: Nice lookin scoot Kit, must have a thing for black bikes. Whats that old saying " Once you go black, you never go back". So you got the floor boards and heel toe shifter, now lets find some straight pipes and ape hangers to fit it too!:rotf: Hey it is supposed to be in sixty degrees this Sunday, whta do you say we get together so I can see that thing first hand? I'll see if Bobbie and George can crawl out of the dungeon for a couple of hoursand join us. Of course you will have to lead, what with a nice shiny new bike and all. I also want you to show me on a map where you got the pics of the Confederate graveyard.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 25, 2008 #20 Posted January 25, 2008 Hey Kit....thought you were gonna get a new bike....but theres a CAR in your driveway!
FreezyRider Posted January 25, 2008 #21 Posted January 25, 2008 Hey Kit, just a word of caution from one GW owner to another..... The heel-toe shifters are known to lead to transmission problems on the GW's unless you are very careful. People tend to apply too much pressure, and since the effective length of the shift lever is longer with the h-t shifter, it applies too much force to the shifting forks. Almost anytime there is a GW with a tranny issue, it can be traced back to the use of a h-t shift lever. I think you're safe as long as you are aware of the potential for damage and take it easy on the force applied. Love that new ride....she's a beauty. Wish I could afford a new one myself. Joe

It is a lot like a 1st Gen......more bells and whistles and better suspension. And the new ones have the single swing arm........want to change the rear tire......no taking off bags and all that stuff........if you can get it on the center stand, if.....with some help.........all you do is take off 5 lug nuts and tire simply slips out......rotor....drive all that stays on the bike... of all the things about it.....I like the way it handles and corners.
Guest KitCarson Posted January 25, 2008 #23 Posted January 25, 2008 Gonna get rid of Crickett? Nice looking scoot, hope you have a long time with it Yes.....Crickett is gone........ .Lexington County Taxes are too high to have two sitting in the garage. Besides the Wing totally spoiled me.....no way to describe it....you just have to ride one. I bought the Venture at a steal.....paid my dues for that.......then got a letter about the rear head torque......was thinking hard about either the Screamin Eagle Ultra or the Wing......rode the wing (a demo) for two days......that did it!! I really have never ridden a bike this good.......but like I say.....you got to go ride one to find out yourself......and I have size 9.5 feet......so the Wing shift and brake fit me.......someone with big feet??? That is the only thing I can see that might not work for some people. Controls are more like the 1st Gen.
Guest KitCarson Posted January 25, 2008 #24 Posted January 25, 2008 Hey Kit....thought you were gonna get a new bike....but theres a CAR in your driveway! Yea!!! It is the neatest little compact car I have ever had!! :stickinouttounge:

Joe Well as the heel/toe is not something that will not void the warranty, I opted to use it. They did get a little miffed at me.......maybe they do not deal with those who think much!! Got a fair deal on the Bike, but I think they figured to pull in a couple grand by selling me a service program , and an extended warranty.......I told them .......the bike has an unconditional warranty, unlimited milage.....for three years.......if I still have it...I am not dead......one month before it runs out I will come extend it for another three years........ As for service I will do that myself......just keep the receipts and records......already it was delivered with 28 psi in the front tire and 34 in the back tire......that was the first thing I did was stop and air up the tires. As the manual says very clearly you can do your own service...I will do that also......and know the oil plug is tight........ Yes Freezy it is a nice bike......I love it.......and can somehow sense this one will be around for quite awhile.......just never had such a nice handling bike. Kit
