Honestly if you are looking at buying an 83-85 Venture, take about $1500-$2000 off the asking price from the seller. Flat out tell them, "these have bad transmissions, I'll offer you $1500-$2000 less" If they wont budge, go elsewhere if they cant prove the tranny was fixed. It will actually cost you about $2500 to get it fixed IF you can find the parts. They are not rare bikes, so just keep looking for an 86 or newer.

Thank you for the great info! I will go tomorrow and see what years all three are. Hopefully one will be a newer model.

I had a Yamaha Fazer 20 years ago and loved it. I bought a scooter to get my feet wet again and now I want something that can handle highway driving and have room to carry items along the way.

It was cool and very fast! Back then insurance guy asked for a picture and because it didn't have fairings it was not considered a high risk bike. I would like another one some day.

My best friend took mine for a ride and when he was done didn't put the kick stand down far enough and it fell over. It had straight drag bars and damaged the tank as well as messed up the carbs. I didn't have the funds or the knowledge to fix it so I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. He still has it to this day.
