ormond18 Posted September 13, 2012 #1 Posted September 13, 2012 The brake light is not working on my 98 royal star. The tail light works but no brakes light up in the front or rear levers. The light looks to be an led aftermarket and not stock bulb type. Any ideas on this?
utadventure Posted September 13, 2012 #2 Posted September 13, 2012 Start with the simple. Light bulb first, check the fuse for the tail light. If that isn't it, that's when the fun begins. Dave

In other words they have wires that attach to what looks like the bottom of a light bulb so you don't have to cut wires or eliminate the original socket. Try putting a regular tail light bulb in its place. If a stock bulb works in the socket, the problem is with the LED. RSTDdog
ormond18 Posted September 13, 2012 Author #4 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Upon checking the fuses, the signal fuse is blown. I put a new fuse in and when I have the signals on and depress brake the fuse blows. These are all aftermarket. The fuse is marked signal in the box. Update: When I depress the back brake the light gets dimmer instead of brighter. There are three wires coming from the tail light. Red, white and a green one. The green is not hooked to anything. So brake light works backwards with back brakes but not at all with front. Edited September 13, 2012 by ormond18
