GolfVenture Posted September 11, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2012 I've negotiated an Actual Cash Value of $5800 for my 91 Venture Royale of 9650 miles, with my insurance co. It was tough negotiating but I feel that I did really good. So $5800 minus $250 deductable minus $300 Salvage = $5250. Inaddition I'll get $1050 for my riding gear. rickardracing Posted September 11, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2012 $5800 for a bike that old is real good. You should take part of that and play the lottery!

bongobobny Posted September 11, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2012 You did good Brian!! Yes, you have to play hardball with insurance companys. They are in business to make money, not give money away...
Miles Posted September 11, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 11, 2012 Brian, the first question should be, how is your hand doing? Secondly, how are the ribs, collar bone, and lungs ??? Now, if yoyu are at all interested in getting a newer bike, let me know. I have all the time in the world to escort you around and help you shop for that newer bike. I know of some good shops in our area. Send me a post, and let's talk, about how you are doing, and what you are thinking of doing about a newer bike, or...just using your '89 Venture. GolfVenture Posted September 11, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted September 11, 2012 Collar , ribs , lung all doing great, just has some really tight muscles. Going to see the Dr this Thurs about possibly more hand surgury. Satisfied with the 89 VR. Just need to get it running good. Carb is still acting up when I started it up a few days ago. Would like to swap carbs with the 91, better yet like to switch both the engine and carb.
Miles Posted September 11, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 11, 2012 Brian, given the condition of your left hand...and the condition of my right hand (we do make one whole person), it might be wise to take some of that insurance money, and have a good mechanic transfer the engine/carbs complete from the '91 bike to the '89 bike. Stop picking away at it, and have someone that has Gen 1 experience do a real good job at it, and get that '89 bike completely fixed up, and done. That way, whwen you are ready to ride again, your wife can't complain about the expense of a new or newer bike.
