Guest scarylarry Posted September 12, 2012 #26 Posted September 12, 2012 Well I for one is very tick off at yammy or one lying COO Chief Operations Officer.. I hope he comes back to Nashville...
RandyR Posted September 12, 2012 #27 Posted September 12, 2012 Good to know everything's still up to date in Kansas City.
eusa1 Posted September 12, 2012 #28 Posted September 12, 2012 Yipee!! My 2000 rsv My 2003 rsv My 2006 rstd will stll hold their value!! Gotta look on the bright side folks, as soon as they are old news, the price will drop like a hammer! Thats how it worked in 99 when i had a 1st gen!
Guest tx2sturgis Posted September 12, 2012 #29 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Wow, look at all the new features! Six point ONE gallon fuel tank, and a 'remote adjustable' headlight! Maybe the tank CAN hold 6.1 gallons, but I dont think thats a good usable capacity. More like 5.7 or a tad less. And that remote adjuster? Well on the 2gen its right behind the headlamp, tucked between the forks...I can reach around the tank and sorta touch the 'remote' while riding, but because of the weird angle, I can't turn the knob while seated in the saddle. Now whats this iSimple iPod thingy? Well whatever it is, I'm not gonna go out and pay 20 large for a new bike...not anytime soon. You know, they keep updating the DESCRIPTION of the bike every year, but not the actual bike. Hmmm...great way to save money I guess. Edited September 12, 2012 by tx2sturgis
gibvel Posted September 12, 2012 #30 Posted September 12, 2012 Check out the gallery for the RSV. Toward the end there is one photo of, I believe, the Stratoliner Deluxe. Hmmm Freudian slip?
Brenda H Posted September 12, 2012 #32 Posted September 12, 2012 So just a "S" model this year, no "standard" version?? Also charcoal grey/silver over black? Wasn't that used in an earlier year? They do get hung up on somethings, don't they?? It's not as though I can afford a new one in any case. And if they want to put out a triked bike, why not do it to the Venture?? I do NOT like the triked Strat I've seen at the dealership, especially in dead white!!
Brenda H Posted September 12, 2012 #33 Posted September 12, 2012 I see what you mean. Someone really screwed up!! Check out the gallery for the RSV. Toward the end there is one photo of, I believe, the Stratoliner Deluxe. Hmmm Freudian slip?

sleepy2 Posted September 12, 2012 #35 Posted September 12, 2012 RandyR---I have the 2012 and it is Black not 2tone unless you meen the red metal flake that only shows in the sun. If that IS the 2013 then maybe I should have waited as it would be easier to keep clean than the black!
djh3 Posted September 12, 2012 #36 Posted September 12, 2012 Once they get the parts diagrham up, I'll bet we can look up whatever thingy the I-jigger do-dad is and plug it right in. Well that is if you have I-thingy's. I personnaly dont own anything thats apple.

Mike G in SC Posted September 12, 2012 #38 Posted September 12, 2012 Yamaha has recently told STAR Touring that they will come out with a new Venture. I don't remember the date but I think it is susposed to disappear for 2014 and be reintroduced in 2015. Beyond that is conjecture but the educated guess is that it will be a 1700 V4 (yep, detuned from the V-MAX). So, they have finally run out of cassettes. I already had a Strat, it had power and was good in the mountains. Other than that, didn't care for it much. I dumped it and got a Venture. (and still kept my RSTD) Oh, as for the entertainment system,,,, that's the steering, throttle and brake. I never turn on the music. Mike G.
Sleeperhawk Posted September 13, 2012 #39 Posted September 13, 2012 The bike is charcoal/raven, which the charcoal was the 08 color (all charcoal), first with the black on bottom. Like the color scheme, but not 20,000 worth.

Beyond that is conjecture but the educated guess is that it will be a 1700 V4 (yep, detuned from the V-MAX). If that's true and we've all heard it before then it'll be 14 yrs no change, one year off then a new bike finally. There should be another two years to address any issues with a new design if Yamaha ever does. I don't see myself waiting that long in my search for a new ride. If we look at the current bike Yamaha didn't even tweak it enough to remove a cassette player or add ABS. There's no way they'd address a real issue on a new bike. Time to check out another brand and I hate that I've had more Yamaha/Stars than any other bike.
MikeWa Posted September 13, 2012 #41 Posted September 13, 2012 I must say I really like the lines of the new Venture. There's just something nostalgic about it. I can see why they kept it so tightly under wraps. I mean someone getting a sneak preview could steal the design and sell it to a competitor for quite a lot of money. Beautiful bike loaded with all the features one could possibly want. Talk about vision. Mike

Customer Rep told me yesterday that Yamaha does not tell them anything. They found out about the Venture when we did. Call and complain, make your voice heard. They submitt all calls to Yamaha, they might not listen or even care, but it's nice to vent.
djh3 Posted September 13, 2012 #43 Posted September 13, 2012 Flip side is there is one more year of used parts going to be available for those that keep them forever.
hunter 1500 Posted September 13, 2012 #44 Posted September 13, 2012 I do like the new V Star 1300 Deluxe. I think it will sell and that is a good price for a bagger with all those features. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/672/0/home.aspx
Obber Posted September 13, 2012 #45 Posted September 13, 2012 Yamaha has to keep making the RSV the same way due the deep discount they got on buying so many cassette decks and rear shocks. I'm sure they still have several years supply of each of these left in their warehouse.:crackup:
SapperJM Posted September 14, 2012 #46 Posted September 14, 2012 I just looked over the entire Star 2013 line-up and all that is new is the V-Star 1300 Deluxe and the Raider SCL. So really we have one bike in limited numbers with extra chrome and and special badge going for an additional $5,000 and mid sized cruiser with a fairing, audio and GPS added (albeit I think the prcie is much more reasonable). And that's it. So could the economy, earthquake and so forth be hitting Yamaha more than we know or are they just focusing elsewhere? It seems they haven't learned anything from the V-max. The orignal dominated it's market and Yamaha let it stagnate for nearly 20 years then they come out with a bike that is an "also ran" and tack a $20,000 price tag on it. Maybe that's why I've only seen one on the road since it was released. I just don't understand the business stategy here, if there is one.
SapperJM Posted September 14, 2012 #47 Posted September 14, 2012 OK maybe that last post was a little hasty. I did QUICK search of the other Japanese manufacturers and I didn't see any new models or any major revisions that jumped out at me. Maybe they are all playing "wait and see".
