cabreco Posted September 6, 2012 #1 Posted September 6, 2012 Can't seem to find the specs for the brace bolts eitehr in the owners or the shop manual. I am replacing mine with a SuperBrace (Thanks to Golf&Venture) & I see on various posts 14 - 15 ft Lbs is assumed so I've set mine to that. Just want to make sure it's correct.
Bob Myers Posted September 8, 2012 #2 Posted September 8, 2012 That seems a might low. When i took mine off to install brace i made they were hella more tight than that!
Condor Posted September 9, 2012 #3 Posted September 9, 2012 15 ftlbs sounds about right. Ya gotta be carefull to not snug them down too much. You're dealing with an 8mm Stainless fastener in aluminum threads with a lot of side torque applied to them when riding. You don't want to rip the threads out of that fork.... The 6mm cap screws that hold the side covers on the engine call for 10 ftlbs.
