engine tickin when on sidestand

Hi I have a 1984 Venture 1200 and have lots of fun, I live in Sweden and have bin driving arround europe the blast thre summers.

Now i have a small problem, when it is on sidestand there is a metallic ticking, and ofcourse no second gear working.

I wish I could help you but I have no knowledge of the 1st generation Ventures. You will receive a lot of good advise from the owners of the older machines.

My 85 has a noise when on the side stand too. MIne is down low on the engine and was wold from guys here that its the clutch bearing wearing a bit. Mine goes away when I pull in the clutch or if I stand the bike up. It seems to be a common thing if that is what you noise is.
