My list includes: Tire repair kit, plugs and patches Tire inflator pump/compressor Tire guage Universal fit tire tube, for when tire can't be plug repaired Tool Kit Extra Spark Plug 1 Qt motor oil Shop towel (rags) Spare turn and stop bulbs Extra TCI unit Rain gear, poncho Seat towel Winshield cleaning solution Water bottle Emergency food rations Flashlight Multi-purpose Leatherman tool Cell phone w/ charger Credit Card Any other suggestions? -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83, 88 Venture Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Assortment of Wire 16g, 14g, & 12g Small 12volt Compressor Puncture repair kit Spare key for bike and side bags & trunk if they are different keys Emergency Medical Card / names of contacts, strapped to your wrist when riding.. Zip Ties I pack my boat's flair gun with a few flairs with my VR. Space Blanket. One side reflects sun's heat, the other side keeps you really warm. Duck Tape. Small Umbrella. Ratchet Tie Down Straps. Can possibly help you get your bike out of a ditch. 41R-71 Relay - Controls, Turn Signals, Headlight, Requires to start Engine. alvald83 Posted September 1, 2012 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2012 When i did my cross country(6000 mile) road trip, i took a few extra parts as you plan on taking, but never needed them. I took a TCI, rectifier regulator and an extra ignition coil but never needed them. What i did need was my Reda gas can, which fits perfectly in our saddle bags. I ran out of gas in Nevada and Colorado. One of the problems that i have with my guage is that it isn't very accurate. I use my trip odometer to gauge my gas stops, but even then i ran out twice. The one gallon gas can was enough to get me to a gas station. In Texas, the heavy winds caused one of my side covers to blow out of its mount, breaking the tabs. Zip ties helped to keep it in place for the remainder of the trip. An assortment of different length Bungy cords to help secure diffent things was helpful since my load seem to constantly change based on the weather...heavy jacket, light jacket, rain gear...it was easier just to strap them on the passenger seat. In case one of the other bikes needs to borrow something. Doesn't change if I go solo. There are a couple bulbs and fuses in the kit. Some tape and some wire. One of the HD folks might need it. Mostly because if I carry a trailer load of parts and tools, I still will NOT have what I need. If I ever have that need. So as to not sound like a fool. When I go long distance one of the guys knows where the keys to my car are and how to get hold of my wife for money Then they will hook my car to my trailer and will come fetch me out of trouble.
