54chevybelair Posted August 26, 2012 #1 Posted August 26, 2012 Has anyone developed a parking brake for a 2nd gen. Now that I have a sidecar, I can't use my kickstand anymore.
eusa1 Posted August 26, 2012 #2 Posted August 26, 2012 B2dad gives them out everywhere he goes! Cut a piece of bike innertube and make a wide rubber band and put it over your front brake lever and throttle You dont have worry about forgetting it.
Carbon_One Posted August 26, 2012 #4 Posted August 26, 2012 I use both methods when parking my trike. Especially if there's any sort of slope. Larry
alwrmcusn Posted August 26, 2012 #5 Posted August 26, 2012 A friend of mine showed me his .75cent emergency brake. He took a piece of Velcro...the kind that will stick to itself when you fold it around itself. His wife sewed one end into a loop that easily slips over the throttle hand grip. He puts the loop on the handgrip, compresses the brake lever then runs the Velcro strip out around the brake lever and back onto the backside of the same strip. To visualize the arrangement just take about a 12-14 inch strip of Velcro and stitch a loop on one end so that it looks sort of like a figure 6 or 9 except the tail of the numeral is about 10 to 12 inchs long. The loop that he has on his is large enough to slide it down over his brake reservoir and the tail wraps snuggly enough around to hold it in place for traveling. The same thing effect could be had with a hefty rubber strip as someone also mentioned.
54chevybelair Posted August 27, 2012 Author #6 Posted August 27, 2012 thanks for the reply guys. I didn't even think about something so easy. I found a small bungee cord laying around that works just fine. Leave it in gear......... I like to be able to warm it up without having to sit on it and hold the brake.
