What can I tell you about Jason Ellis owner of Americas best Trailers? Well This year he donated a trailer for me to raffle off to beneift Central Illinois Riding Therapy( they Provide horse therapy for Kids with Down syndrome and Autism). I have know and dealt with Jason for several years off and on. His product is good and yes he seems to be hard to get ahold of at times. I am not sure how he sells some of those fiberglass trailers as they are knock offs of some of the high end trailers on the market.... Best of Luck whatever trailer you choose.

If you are going to add a trailer harness for your bike , consider using one of the plug and play harnesses I have for sale on the classified page. Will make connecting a lot easier.

I was looking at your harness the other day. I will most likely order on.

I think America's Best has some good trailers, but when I first saw this I thought, that can't be the air ride trailer, and it isn't, that is the EscaPade! That trailer is a bit more expensive and on a par with what I think is the best motorcycle trailer bar none, the Bushtec. Both have air ride suspensions. When i went to the EscaLade page, and saw the video of the trailer bouncing over small bumps, I knew it wasn't the good one.

May be a good basic trailer, but for over two grand, you could get a lightly used EscaPade or Bushtec if you look around, and you won't believe the difference. Air suspension means you almost never feel the trailer behind you, empty OR loaded! Quality is top notch. Safety is best you can get. I think one of the top air ride trailers is a better buy for anyone that will tow fairly often. Plus they hold their value better. Meaning if you get a good deal on one (some owners just don't know how to value them when they sell) and take care of it, you should get most of your money back, or even make a few bucks when it comes time to sell.

Again, nothing against Americas Best but if you want the truly best trailer, it is Escapade or Bushtec.

Jack, you're a Legend [no pun intended]

We are planning to buy a trailer, use it while in the U.S. then ship it home. We like the "adventure"

We will need to have it in Portland, are there agents for these, or does it get shipped from Illinois ??

Do you plan on pulling it with the trike or Alan's Venture?? The Adventure Model is nice and I do like the molded fenders... a lot like my old Motorvation.... The Sport Model is actually designed to match a Harley, and does have a larger box capacity because of the attached fenders. The one I picked up even had Harley lighting and the PO added the Harley eyebrows. If you plan on towing it with the trike the Sport may be the way to go??

I'm not sure if this is the same company that I'm dealing with. Americasbesttrailers is in South Carolina and the owner is Jason Ellis.

Nice trailer Jack. I guess you never found your other one.

Nope never found it, and probably never will. Most MC trailers never get out of the back yard, and by now it probably has a rattle can paint job on it... It was the one I had on when we were playing tag last year thru Nevada. I really liked that trailer.... The nice thing is after jumping thru a bunch of hoops Geico covered the loss, and it was enough to cover the used cost of the Legend with a little left over..... :sign woo hoo: That said... I also have an unused 2010 J&E Manufacturing Teardrop trailer... don't ask why... Anyway I can't keep both of them. So even though I do like it, the Teardrops gotta go. $2000 if you're interested. Retail is somewhere up around $3600+shipping. LMK...

  • 1 month later...

So here's the update

I bough the Escalade model about the time posting this thread. I spoke with the owner (Jason Ellis) told him and emailed him exactly what I wanted, I was specific as to color and no chrome trim. He said we would have our trailer in about a month. He said it would only be a week before the body went to the painter, it took 2 & 1/2 weeks before the painter got the trailer. Then, they painted it the wrong color, another week to figure out what they were going to do. It took two more weeks for the body with the correct color to get back to the trailer shop and then one more week before they shipped it and a week for it to get here.

Don't go away, I'm not done. The day it gets here I unpack it and low and behold chrome trim. Then I begin to assemble it (attaching the axles to the frame and body to the frame). When I go to put the wheels on there are no lug nuts or center caps for the wheels. So down to the parts store to buy four lug nuts. I should mention that they also forgot to send the spare tire mounting hardware that as I type I still don't have. When we set the body on the frame, all the holes line up but with the front bolts in place and finger tight there is a gap in the back between the body and the frame of about an inch. No way to get the bolts through the frame. Then I notice (with all the frame and body holes lined up) that the left wheel touches the wheel well. I can't get the owner to answer my calls but a guy from the shop by the name of Thomas is now dealing with me but he has no authority to make any decisions, he has to clear everything with the owner. He, Thomas, wanted to send me a completely new trailer fully assembled but the owner said no. I spent several day working on a solution to the axle issue and gap in the rear. Wiring??? What a joke!!! When The owner was still talking to me he told me they use "standard 5 wire trailer color configuration". Not even close!!! It was all jacked up. And the paint, well the color's right but lets just say it looks like the guy painted it in his garage with no filtered ventilation. There are specks in the paint all over the place. If you took your car to a body shop and got this paint job, you'd be taking it back.

I'll be calling the BBB as well and making a video to post on You Tube so there will be more information about this company out there to warn people about their poor products and really bad customer service.

So, why not return it? If they did not send you what you ordered, then it should be returned. :(:(

I seriously considered it but I had already put several days of work into fixing the axle issue which I did. In order to return it I would have to go through my credit card company, who said I have a valid claim against this company but the process could take several months. Then I would have to get Jason to make arrangements to pick the trailer up. There has been zero communication from him in the last month. Returning it seems like more work than keeping it and fixing the problems my self.

:bang head::bang head: Change of plan.

Quickstep now wants to buy a good used trailer. :buttkick:

Is craigslist the best option looking??

Not to Hi-jack this thread, but, Annie, I may have a trailer you'd be interested in, it could use a paint job and new tires but it's a decent pulling trailer. If you want to know more and see some pics PM me and we'll talk.
