Black wing Posted August 15, 2012 #1 Posted August 15, 2012 so i got my radio up and running but when i put in a tape all i get is a grinding noise like the drive gears are not quite meshing any ideas on how to fix it?
bongobobny Posted August 15, 2012 #2 Posted August 15, 2012 You are probably going to find a broken driver belt or 2. You should replace all 3 as the rubber is quite old...
bongobobny Posted August 15, 2012 #4 Posted August 15, 2012 They are probably stretched out. With the case off, plug it in and insert a tape and see of the belts move at all, chances are they don't...
Black wing Posted August 15, 2012 Author #6 Posted August 15, 2012 your right the one that goes to the top is too loose, so i will go get new elastices tomorrow but what is the grinding noise?
Black wing Posted August 15, 2012 Author #8 Posted August 15, 2012 ok so the grinding seems to be coming from the wheel located under the circuit board next to the motor
bongobobny Posted August 16, 2012 #9 Posted August 16, 2012 your right the one that goes to the top is too loose, so i will go get new elastices tomorrow but what is the grinding noise? My guess would be the auto reverse is continually going thinking the tape has reached the end due to the tape itself physically not moving...
