Well folks first of all I don't want to offend any Texans but were moving to the Dover Delaware area of the woods. I'm retired but my wife still work for the Department of Defense (Air Force civilian emplyee) and she has been asked to move to Dover Air Force Base. We talked about this for a few days seeing as how we just moved from the St. Louis area last Feb. A few things clinced it for us first and formost is that Del Rio doesn't have a good hospital and forget about shopping if that's your thing and for women it is. Del Rio is a nice small friendly town and I have meet and enjoy the new friends we have made since moving here and I will miss riding with some of you on this forum as well as the Southern Cruisers here in the Del Rio area.

But we have decided to take the promotional opportunity and move to the East coast. We don't have a firm date on the move yet but expect it to be within the next 3 months. I am looking forward to meeting all the people on this forum that live in the Dover area. It's never to late to make new friends and who has to many friends anyway. I will have to find something to do during the winter weather rut in Delaware. Just how many days of riding do you Delawarians (spelling) have anyway?

Yeah, it is ten days, but the time is from 10 AM to 2 PM each of the days.:cool10:

Anytime you are connected with the military, frequent moves are common. I still have my Texas driver's license and vote there, but haven't hung my hat there for other than visits since 1991.

Enjoy your new location.

From living In NJ as a youngster.

I remember, pulling the bike out In mid-March (the wing) and putting it away in December

then taking the yamaha 250 out, and riding in the snow, for the weekend polar bears rides.

Oh, and Thousands of motorcycle riders up the East Coast, More-so In New Jersey

Now you get to do the Americade, In Lake George, New York.

Its about a 10-12 hour ride up the coast. "Your going to love it"

Thanks for the info Jeff, we will have to get together after I get settled. I'm NY born and bread and have taken trips back to upstate (and I mean upstate) just to ride in the Adirondacks, I just love those mountains and I'm happy that I will be close to them once again. By upstaet I mean Plattsburgh, Malone, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and parts around there. My grandchildren are around Watertown and my son is a trooper in Malone. I have a brother North of Albany. I would love to join up with you anytime you want to go to NY riding and look forward to meeting you.

Well heck you don't have to worry about waiting for us to head that way come on down. We ride lots around here, and since you are retired you'll have nothing but time on your hands. Maybe you can even bring your wife down when she gets time off. We're having our replacement for Vogel in Asheville this year come on down and join us. Info on it is in the rallys section. We'll also be having the skid in in WVA in June as well as Don's maintenance day June 7th. See there'll be plenty for you to do once we get you here.

Lots of nice coastal riding down that way, quaint small towns, lots of shopping, outlets everywhere, you arent very far from mtns in Pa and NJ or Va or WV No state sales tax, lots of farmland. Its a nice area, Dover Downs slots and Stock Cars. Good luck. Craig

Thanks for the invitation Margaret that was kind of you. I am sure I will like that part of the country and it sounds like there's much more to do without having to travel 150 miles first to do it. I miss having a good bike ralley or dealer to go to without having to plan on a day out of town. My wife is not into riding but she is in to NASCAR and she is looking forward to being able to go to the two Nascar races they have each year in Dover. I look forward to meeting all of you and riding in that part of the country. I have been retired for a year now and I have been toying with the idea of looking for a part time job, I can always use some extra chrome money!

If this move is what you want, and it sounds as if it is,CONGRATULATIONS. I have never lived on the East coast but I spent two 5 week stratches working in New Hampshire a few years ago and I absolutely fell in love with the area. Up there you don't have to "pick" a nice route. Almost all of the roads are nice rides. And there are so many things to see. And there are many things to do when you can't ride, due to the weather. If I could move up there I would be gone in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I married a Louisiana girl and her feet are firmly planted in the southern mud !!!!! Good luck !!
