rickardracing Posted August 6, 2012 #1 Posted August 6, 2012 Well, I got off my butt and put the bike on the lift yesterday. Put the stock leveling links back on, tightened up the neck bearing. That took a half turn to snug it up! Then I went ahead and pulled the fairing loose and pushed the forks up 3/4". Plugged the ais system. Took it for a quick ride yesterday and a 55 mile ride into work this morning. So far, Very happy with the saddle height. I can touch flat footed sitting on the bike and have my knees bent. When I stand up I have about an 1 1/2" clearance. Me likey. The bike haandles much better at low and high speeds. Seems like I can turn a tighter radius. Me likey that too. AIS plugged. I know some are against it, but for $1.28 for the 2 rubber stoppers and the 15 minutes it took I figured why not. Pretty much eliminated the popping through the exhaust. I run 29" Samson turnouts. It may even be a tad quieter without those gases burning in the pipes, I could be wrong though, but could just be because it does'nt pop like it used too. I do have a small exhaust leak and need a new doughnut gasket. Once I replace those, I do not think I will get any popping at all. Me likey likey.
CaptainJoe Posted August 6, 2012 #2 Posted August 6, 2012 You must have a small inseam also... Mine is 29" and after lowering my RSV 1" inch I can stand flat footed with about zero room between the seat with the stock leveling links.. At low speads 0-5 mph you'll notice a huge improvement! It's the best mod I have done so far.
rickardracing Posted August 6, 2012 Author #3 Posted August 6, 2012 I know a few have taken the fork apart and cut down some spacers? But that's more of a permanent mod. I figured this way if I don't care for it, I can always put the forks back. But so far I noticed a big differance at low speed.

If you're referring to the muffler gasket (looks like a plastic sleeve), I have two I just bought and didn't use. Interested? I could let them go for $25 shipped.

Cheesehead in flatland Posted August 6, 2012 #6 Posted August 6, 2012 The parts I have are number 30 in this picture. The fit inside the front of the muffler before slipping it on the exhaust pipe.
rickardracing Posted August 6, 2012 Author #7 Posted August 6, 2012 Nope, I need number 25. Pipe meets the head.
