I get your point but the difference between the two would depend on what changes were done to the CanAm version. Considering the changes that can be done to any engine to change it's performance, I've no doubt that more changes could be done to improve it. My old Aprilia Atlantic went from a "nice lil scooter" to a "fun" machine just by pulling 2 pieces of plastic out of the air breather. I also can't see Polaris building a touring machine that can't pull itself around the block. The Aprilia version was set up for one thing and one thing only, to fly like the proverbial bat out of h***. Having seen them [the Aprilias] do anywhere from 135 to 150 mph, I can't see Polaris using the same settings.

The RT's are what, not quite a year old?? Given time I've no doubt that someone will come up with performance mods for these bikes just as they have for every other bike out there, if they haven't already. And if you think getting thru all the tupperware on a RSV is fun, wait until someone has to tackle a Spyder!!

it is a good engine but one thing you must remember. with two people on board, a loaded trailer, and the double bike weight over what the aprilla weighs. your probably talking 4 times the weight of the aprilla. it still is only 990 cc's and is tuned for a very high rpm with limited torque. for a heavyweight set up. it's like putting an all out small block chevy in a dump truck. you have to run it wide open all the time to keep ahead of traffic. it's like i said in an earlier post. i saw a guy ream one out. i doubt if it would out run my focus by much.

My wife and I took one for a ride in Charleston, Sc., and I (we) could not get it back to the dealer fast enough and get off the thing.

We did not like it at all. I could not keep it in a straight line on the interstate. All it wanted to do was wobble back and forth and I slowed down to about 50 MPH and got off at the very next exit. Took the side road that ran parellel to the interstate back to the dealer at 30 MPH..

The dealer did not like what I had to say about it.

However, this is my opinion and one that should not be used to stop you or anyone from taking a test ride or buying one.

Just not for me...I will stick to my wing...:twing:
