JohnMidnight Posted August 1, 2012 #1 Posted August 1, 2012 I'm wondering what kind of brake pads I should get... I mean EBC is great, but incredibly pricy for a whole darn set. Found this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-Kevlar/dp/B007RGQHIO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1343848229&sr=8-12&keywords=Venture+Royale+Brake+Pads]Amazon.com: 1986-1993 Yamaha XVZ 13 D Venture Royale Kevlar Carbon Front & Rear Brake Pads: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nJImUwFVL.@@AMEPARAM@@51nJImUwFVL[/ame] Don't know if they're good tho. Ebay also has that set too.
Freebird Posted August 1, 2012 #2 Posted August 1, 2012 In my opinion, EBC is the way to go. I run the EBC HH pads and won't try to save a few bucks on pads that I know nothing much about.
jasonm. Posted August 1, 2012 #3 Posted August 1, 2012 Yes, those shown are the standard or "GG" pads. I found them good. I now use "HH" from parts unlimited. I actually have 2 or 3 sets of "GG" new in the packages. Don't know when I will use them. That price shown is within $5 of what most sell them for around me. Also there is another brand from England. .They used to called Dunlopad. But the name was too close to Dunlop...so they changed it I think to DP brakes. Very good pads
JohnMidnight Posted August 1, 2012 Author #4 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) mmm... I'd like to do EBC, but to get them locally, I'm paying 38$s per pair. I need a full set. After taxes.. 122.33. Which for this month, means, either a new front tire to replace the dry rotting Venom X, or... new brake pads I need a cheaper option >.> or on sale version of EBCs somewhere. If only I had part #s >:| Edited August 1, 2012 by JohnMidnight
jasonm. Posted August 1, 2012 #5 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) EBC is part #FA123...I have 2 new sets of FA123 kevlar and a set of Bendix...all in the packages. U Want them cheap? PM sent Edited August 1, 2012 by jasonm.
JohnMidnight Posted August 1, 2012 Author #6 Posted August 1, 2012 Replied. I'll add you to my list. I'm makin sure I get my bases covered when payday hits.
jasonm. Posted August 1, 2012 #7 Posted August 1, 2012 OKAY, an FYI- any packaging for these that says "kevlar" on front is an old package. New ones say "high performance organic". Then on the back...it says "aramid fibres"...aka Kevlar.
