playboy Posted July 29, 2012 #1 Posted July 29, 2012 Got started on servicing the swingarm today and when I removed the Y pipe one end just slipped off without loosening the clamp. Looked in service Manual for a part number but didn't find any listed or shown pg 3-32 . Discovered this after removing the exhaust bolts at the head on one side and then realized that it wasn't necessary. Also found a pin hole which I should be able to weld up. Been having a little bit of popping now and then so now is the time to get the exhaust tightened up.
playboy Posted July 30, 2012 Author #2 Posted July 30, 2012 Hmmmmmmm Did I FINALLY get everyone stumped with a question.
Jonesboy Posted July 30, 2012 #3 Posted July 30, 2012 What was the question???? A pin hole will cause some poping on decel, but these bikes are prone to poping.... So, did I stump you with an answer??
playboy Posted July 30, 2012 Author #4 Posted July 30, 2012  LOL what I need or think I need is some new gaskets for the Y- Pipe. the ones that fit inside the pipe or maybe there called something else. There made of a soft heat resistant material. Back in the day it would probably have been Asbestos. Cant find a part number or listing for them in the manual or parts lists. Probably have to call the dealer Tomorrow when they open.
Old Miner Posted July 31, 2012 #5 Posted July 31, 2012 Hi. Just purchased one for my 99. Try the parts manual page C5 (Exhaust section). http://www.venturerider.org/private/RSVparts.pdf Neil. Old Miner.
