don, i enjoyed hosting the international at the hub, and the facilities were complete for an international. motel on site, great convention hall, nice restaurant on site, and some of the best most scenic riding in the usa. not going to stick my foot in my mouth yet but i may volunteer to do one more international. it would be an honor to do it again. we are having the fall meet and eat in ar. and linda and i were going to take a ride to the hub to see how randal and debbie are doing. they were great hosts and bent over bacwards for us. i know the motel was,nt the fanciest around, but they are busting their butts to make a go of it, and they really apprieciate all the help they can get. we have plenty of time. maybe we could shoot for a cooler time next year. how about combining your maintenance day with the international at the hub? you no i need someone with computor savvy. just one of my wild ideas. lol bill :sign29:

Jimmy, that is a loooong bike ride,

We could pitch in as well, as long as we don't stop at jcw on the way, the ride's only about three r so hours 4 us.

Haha. Could you imagine? If you were one of those mega hardcore, mileage dudes, you could rent a huge space on a freighter and just ride laps all day. Maybe haul ass some days, bag some good miles (knots) so you can have the ocassional long weekend. If you had the entire freighter/tanker (and $5zil+) to yourself you could build a radical, fake town. You could even have some impressive straightaways sweeping upstairs, 3-4 stories to the poop deck. Then have a section of containers on one end stacked all weird for the trials guys. Endless options. I'll bet you'd have a million bikers wanting to ride that way trans continent. Booked solid.

"Hey International Motorcyle Riding Badasses! Ride ALL your miles ALL the way!!

I'll bet $5mil would get you started. Great idea. I'm going to think about that all night.

I talked with Sharon I will throw my hat into the ring. We could use my place for a meeting area and camping we have a area to set up a band and have a bonfire. And there are motels 6 miles away along with some other nice places to stay.

There a few places with very good food and banquet halls at reasonable rates.

And we are also in the middle of some of Wisconsins best riding roads and I know a few of them along with some other Venture riders that come to the area to ride.

Lets not discard this location too quick. A free camping area , bonfire and a possibly band has some real appeal. Heck, maybe even a pig roast on site rather than a sit down dinner wrap up..... And, as stated there are some great riding roads in the area....

Orlin and Sharon are two of the nicest people we have ever met...

However,if they let the whole group invade the property, once it was over,

they would have to move and go into the witness relocation program,

and I'm not to sure they want to give up their little slice of heaven..:whistling: :rotfl::rotfl:

I will jump in here. We have annual Venison Roast here for family and friends and we have on the average of 40 to 70 people that come so with a little help we could be set up for more with out a problem. I also have a 260 foot building that can be used. All bikes can be kept inside and we could also use to set up food and tables if we would like. We have had auction sales in the building and has worked very well. I also know someone in the area that does pig roasts and does a exelent job.

I have been to Orlin's and he has a great location for Riding and Camping. There is a local motel that I believe we could make arrangements with. As for those that Camp Orlin's would be a huge money saver. Not sure about showers at Orlin's Place!! Would recommend a shuttlebus to run people from town to Orlins.

Galena has it's advantages as well There are several large hotels there that could accomodate several with plenty of Parking, meeting rooms etc. Chestnut Mountain Resort has some of the best accomodations being about 9 miles from Galena and 17 miles from savanna Il. It is a nice ride from there to the motorcycle museum, Le Clair, Ia home of the American Pickers, and J&P cycles. This being said I do not know of Camping that is close to any of the facilities in Galena. Rick Heywood and I would be willing to run over to that area this week and talk to some of the hotels but would need some basic information to get started.

1). Is there a banquet and what is the typical per plate cost

2). What has been the average attendance over the last 3 years(I.E how many rooms are typically rented during rally?)

3). What are the tenative dates?

4). What additional rooms might be needed? a hospitality suit?

5). What has the typical room cost been over the last couple events? Per nite

7). Will we need a room for a vendor area? one of the riding orgs I am with has a lot of member vendors that like to bring their stuff and they also have a swap meet associated with it so you can bring items you are looking to part with. Let me know how I can help!!!

OK folks, due to the overwhelming willingness of folks in that area to help, I'm pulling the trigger on the general Galena area for the 2013 rally. Now I said that general area so you can all discuss the specifics whether it be Galena, Orlins place, whatever.

So please start getting your committee together, elect a fearless leader and let's get it going.

We rode in that area a couple of years ago and loved it. The "field of Dreams" is in that area. We did a mystry cruise on the Mississippi. Galena is a great town. This whole area would be a great area to ride in.

Here is my two cents :2cents:

I am about 303 miles away but I will do what I can to assist. My daughter lives in Madison Wi and I will be making trips down there between now and then so I could meet up with some of you to discuss and do some planning.

Yes I know it is a lot of work from talking to the folks that planned Cody but if we can split up the work and set a schedule to get'r done. I have complete confidence we can pull it off.

Besides we have lots of cheeseheads that live close to the immediate area that are real imaginative and know how to get things done. Phones can connect us all.

Did I mention I love this forum? I have never met a bunch of people that are more willing to loose their egos and jump in and help like all that I have met here.

Count me in! :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:

Okay I am still the new guy here, And I would like to see Rick or Mike or someone who has been here longer than I be the ones to have the honor to host this.

Keep in mind my place is open for use if needed. For this event or anyothers that we may have in this area.

Thanks. Maybe in the future but the decison has been made to have the 2013 Rally in the NW IL area...somewhere around Galena. I would like to do it in the hill country one of these days but deciding what time of the year is the only problem. I think that October would be best but then some of our northern riders are getting into questionable weather already. Oh well....that will be a topic for another time.

Orlin you may be new to this site but you are far from a rookie at hosting a great event.

You should have volunteered to host it sooner......:whistling:

The time frame that we have the IR would be WAY too hot to have it in the hill country. Later in the fall, like Freebird mention, in October would be a great time of the year. Besides, we have mini rallys down here all the time. Tom hosts an excellent get together in Leaky every year. Big Bend has been done a few times, if folks are interested in coming to Texas for some riding, let one of us down here know, we can get a good mini rally going

October in Northern IL might want to back it up a month. :snow2:

Just saying.

It will not be October, they were talking about Texas. We have our annual leaf lookers rally in October so that isn't gonna work. I am thinking July sometime. But that will be discussed by all the committee members shortly.

A couple of us are riding to the area tomorrow to look at accommodation and such and we will move forward from there
