wkboard Posted January 18, 2008 #2 Posted January 18, 2008 Thanks TIMK! Good info to put in the file for that day when I need it. Thanks!!
awsmsrv Posted January 18, 2008 #3 Posted January 18, 2008 Starparts.org has the key blanks, as well, & some very nice ignition key covers. I have the original star badge. If you didn't know otherwise, you'd think it's just an ornament rather than the key in the ignition. Check it out.

I have several. They work fine, though they aren't as pretty as the originals.
MrRadi8 Posted January 22, 2008 #5 Posted January 22, 2008 My local ACE Hardware store carried blanks for my scoot. Which made me a whole lot happier than only having the one set, the non-ignition one bent!
kantornado Posted January 24, 2008 #6 Posted January 24, 2008 I have these 2 types, Tayler X 248, Curtis yn 63 and they work fine.........................................................Ron
Uturn Posted January 24, 2008 #7 Posted January 24, 2008 I had to put another switch on my 99 RSV. This left me with having to carry two keys (ignition, gas,bags/trunk). Several years ago, I had two Fords and the keys were like the Venture - double sided with the same cut on either side. Back then, I had the Locksmith cut one key on one side and cut the other key on the opposite side. (Hope this makes sense). I did the same thing with the Venture keys. For the switch, You need to ensure you put the key in right side up. I took my Dremel and cut a notch in the top. When I open the gas cap or saddle bags/trunk, I use the un-notched side up. Oh, the blank I use is a ilco X248 YM63. Just a plain silver key. Remember to do this, the (combo) keys have to be manually cut. Hope this helps. MIKE aka Uturn
