Ground issue? Maybe get a ground loop isolator. Or try a Lenmar battery backup. That way it's off the charging system.

That's not a bad idea! I was looking to get a Lenmar Solar Powerport for my bugout bag to charge my cell phone in case of emergency.

I have one that I cut a hole in to put a standard automotive radio into, youre welcome to that if ya want it. I use the helmet radios now, and have the radio right outta the bike and ordered a new filler panel again. I got it a year ago from partshark but not sure if theyre still available new

You could use some ABS plastic, thin rubber stripping and a hinge. Get an oversized Rubbermaid container to fit below. Use some galvanized plumbers' tape to mount it in the hole with some nuts/bolts through the edge of the hole. Use silicone to seal them. Should be a $10 project. Maybe not the cleanest look, but that depends on how OEM you want it to look.

Or an enclosure like this:

Ok so let me tell you what I did.

I went the cheap way just to see if it would work out w/o spending $30

I picked up a little Schosche SunVolt solar charger from Ebay

Great little unit, works like a dream. Charges the MP3 while playing with no static & when no sun I can charge it from my aux USB port.

All for $8 bucks shipped. Great for a backup charger for phones & GPS too! :cool10:
