midnightrider1300 Posted July 15, 2012 #5 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) that is what I'm running now.... only have bout 2500 miles on it as of now, BUT so far I love the ride and the way it handles...My bike didn't handle very well at low speeds ( doing uturns) but with the Pirelli MT66 it handles a LOT better...My wife asked me 1 day what I did to make the bike ride so much better...but like I say I have 2500 miles on it BUT it still looks brand new...I would buy it again, oh it handles great on wet roads also ...it's cheaper here & free shipping . Guest scarylarry Posted July 15, 2012 #8 Posted July 15, 2012 Everyone has a favorite tire...I like Avons but a friend of mine is on his 4th set from cracking and all 3 past set had less than 5k miles and was born 2011 or later... Try to tell him they are good tires......:rotf: I just hope Michelin comes out with a set for the RSV..

Yup I always wondered about that,unless you ask the build date or about returns. I would think maybe from a bike store or tire manufacture would be best.

Or just maybe you could get lucky at your dealer...I did on my last set cause they was order and the buyer back out and he needed to move them...No one could beat his price..That was a one time deal...So check there as well and then shop the net from there...

My battle with the fleabay vendor to return them consumed weeks of my time and fleabay getting involved. I insisted the vendor pay for return shipping, they refused for weeks until my flame war against them started cutting into their business until they relented and refunded my initial cost + return shipping charges. LESSON: There are some things you just don't buy from fleabay!

mm482 Posted July 15, 2012 #16 Posted July 15, 2012 I ran a set of MT66s on my RSV and the rear lasted for 9K and front was good for 15K. I would place the MT66s just a little better than the 404 Dunlop’s. Earl

ddoggma Posted July 15, 2012 #18 Posted July 15, 2012 I just had to replace a rear E3 with less than 4000 miles on it...sigh. I pickedup a drill bit chuck. The gear end stuck in my tire and I heard slap, slap, slap. Got it home tryed to plug it. It threw the plug in a couple weeks. SO, I had to get a replacement. CycleGear price matched the lowest price I could find on the web. And I bought there replacement warranty, so it will be replaced free if something else happens.At any Cycle Gear in the country I'm told. They also mounted it for a fee. I took it off the bike. It was a fresh tire and all's well again.

Blackjack Posted July 17, 2012 #20 Posted July 17, 2012 I am a huge fan of the Pirelli MT66, but they do not seem to be adequate for a bike as heavy as a Venture or a Road Star. They are fabulous on a V-Star, but you will not likely get very good mileage on any bike over 600 lbs.
